Bollywood’s ultimate entertainer Akshay Kumar is all set to reunite with hitmaker Anees Bazmee after more than 15 years, and fans couldn’t be more excited. The duo, known for delivering all-time comedy hits like Welcome (2007) and Singh Is Kinng (2008), are reportedly collaborating once again — this time for a wholesome family comedy-drama.
According to reports, the untitled film will go on floors in February 2026. The project is being backed by renowned Telugu producer Dil Raju, marking a fresh collaboration between Bollywood and South cinema’s production houses.
While details about the film’s cast and plot are still under wraps, sources close to the project have confirmed that it’s not a remake or a double-role comedy, as earlier rumours suggested. Instead, Bazmee — known for his perfect blend of humour and emotion — is said to be crafting an original story that aims to bring families together in theatres once again.
Bazmee and Akshay’s previous outings have been massive successes, both commercially and in terms of audience love. From Akshay’s comic timing in Welcome to the larger-than-life fun of Singh Is Kinng, their partnership has consistently delivered feel-good entertainers. Naturally, expectations are sky-high for their upcoming project.
Anees Bazmee, who last directed the blockbuster Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2, has been vocal about wanting to bring “clean family comedies” back to the big screen — and this film seems to be a step in that direction.
With production kicking off in early 2026, the film could be slated for a late 2026 or early 2027 release, setting the stage for another Akshay Kumar entertainer packed with laughs, emotions, and high-energy moments.
