For fans who grew up on 90s Bollywood, this reunion is pure nostalgia. Akshay Kumar and Tabu, who last shared genuine screen space in the 1996 hit Tu Chor Main Sipahi, are finally coming together again — after more than two decades.

Their paths crossed briefly in Hera Pheri (2000), but they weren’t paired opposite each other. Now, filmmaker Priyadarshan has brought the two veterans back for his upcoming horror-comedy Bhooth Bangla, scheduled for a 2026 release. And Tabu is finally opening up about what it was like to return to a set with Akshay after so long.

Tabu Walked Onto Set With Zero Expectations

In a conversation with ETimes, Tabu admitted she felt unsure before starting the shoot:
“I didn’t know what to expect. I hadn’t worked with Akshay after Hera Pheri, and we hadn’t even crossed paths much socially.”

However, she was instantly reassured when she saw Priyadarshan behind the monitor — a director she has known for years.
According to her, he is still the same: outspoken, impatient in the most endearing way, and a director who loves getting the perfect shot in just one take.

But Akshay Kumar? “The Man Hasn’t Changed.”

Tabu explained that while everyone has evolved over 25 years, Akshay’s core personality is untouched:
“His humour and energy are the same. He still wakes up at 4 am, finishes work early, and goes home. He keeps reminding everyone that he doesn’t party and sleeps early.”

She added that although they’re older now, Akshay still carries the same discipline and spark he had in the 90s — something she genuinely admires.

Tabu’s Strong Comeback Year Ahead

After being last seen in Auron Mein Kahan Dum Tha (2024) with Ajay Devgn, Tabu had no releases this year. But 2026 is gearing up to be packed for her:

  • Bhooth Bangla with Akshay Kumar
  • Puri Jagannadh’s next with Vijay Sethupathi — releasing in Tamil and Telugu

She has already proven her prowess in horror-comedy through Golmaal Again and Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2, and fans are excited to see her back in the genre.
