One attendee described it as something that expands the film’s world in a big way — more characters, more detail, and a stronger sense of tone. According to them, the film sits in a strange but interesting space… edgy, massy, but also layered. Not easy to pull off, but that seems to be the attempt here.

Toxic reportedly moves between the 1940s and 1970s, blending timelines into what’s being described as a “fairy tale for grown-ups.” That phrase stuck with a lot of people after the screening. It’s not your usual action drama — there’s a slightly stylised, almost surreal vibe running through it.
