After years of emotional turbulence and quiet resilience, Samantha Ruth Prabhu is finally breathing easy.
In a heartfelt conversation with Vogue India, the actor spoke candidly about navigating heartbreak, shutting down emotionally after her separation from Naga Chaitanya, and how filmmaker Raj Nidimoru helped her rediscover trust — and herself.
It’s not just a new chapter. It’s a softer, steadier one.
“I Closed Up Completely”
Samantha didn’t hold back while reflecting on the emotional toll her separation took on her.
“When I went through a separation, I closed up completely,” she shared. She admitted she didn’t think it would ever be possible to rely on someone again.
But vulnerability changed that.
“Thankfully, I was vulnerable enough to accept that kind of love and friendship. And I’m a much better person because of the relationship I’m in. Because of the person Raj is.”
It wasn’t dramatic. It wasn’t performative. It sounded like someone who had done the work.
She revealed that even friends noticed the shift. One old friend sent her a voice note after meeting her, saying it was the first time in a long while that she didn’t seem like she was “struggling to breathe.”
“I’m not performing anymore,” Samantha said — a line that quietly says everything.
A Love That Grew From Friendship
Samantha and Raj are believed to have first met professionally during Season 2 of The Family Man in 2021, where Samantha played the intense and much-talked-about character Raji.
Rumours of their relationship began circulating in 2024, especially after they collaborated again on projects and were spotted together during holidays and industry events. Neither confirmed anything at the time.
On December 1, 2025, the couple surprised fans with intimate wedding photos from a Linga Bhairava Vivaha ceremony held at the Isha Foundation in Coimbatore. The ceremony was small, spiritual, and private — attended only by close family and friends.
Before Samantha, Raj had been married to Shhyamali De in 2015, and the two reportedly separated in 2022.
Looking Back at the Past
Samantha and Naga Chaitanya’s love story began on the sets of Ye Maaya Chesave, Samantha’s debut film. Their on-screen chemistry soon turned into a real-life romance, culminating in a grand wedding in 2017.
After four years of marriage, they announced their separation in 2021. The reason behind their split was never publicly disclosed.
In 2024, Naga Chaitanya married actress Sobhita Dhulipala, moving forward in his own chapter.
For Samantha, however, the journey inward seems to have been longer — and perhaps more transformative.
Work, Healing, and Moving Forward
Even as her personal life found stability, Samantha never slowed down professionally.
She and Raj are now collaborating again on Maa Inti Bangaaram, directed by Nandini Reddy. The film, backed by Raj Nidimoru, Samantha, and Himank Duvvuru, also stars Gulshan Devaiah, Diganth, Gautami, and Manjusha. It is scheduled to release on May 15, 2026.
In many ways, her personal and professional worlds seem to have found balance.
Final Words
Samantha’s story isn’t just about moving on. It’s about learning to stay open.
From closing herself off completely to embracing love again, her journey feels grounded and honest — not like a fairytale, but like growth.
And maybe that’s the most powerful transformation of all.
For the first time in a long time, she says she’s not performing.
She’s just living.
