Eros has filed a commercial IP suit seeking ₹84 crore in damages, alleging that Tere Ishk Mein was deliberately positioned as a continuation of Raanjhanaa without authorisation. The lawsuit also names Super Cassettes Industries Ltd (T-Series), writer Himanshu Sharma, and Netflix as respondents.
Among the claims cited are character similarities—Dhanush’s character being named Shankar, echoing Kundan Shankar from Raanjhanaa, and Mohammed Zeeshan Ayyub allegedly playing a comparable role named Murari in both films. Eros has also objected to early promotional material that used phrases like “From the world of Raanjhanaa,” which were later removed following cease-and-desist notices in mid-2025.
