Sean “Diddy” Combs’ spokesperson has shut down recent reports claiming the disgraced music mogul was caught consuming homemade alcohol inside prison.
According to a report published by TMZ on Friday, November 7, Combs — currently serving his sentence at the Federal Correctional Institution (FCI) Fort Dix in New Jersey — was allegedly found drinking a fermented concoction made from Fanta soda, sugar, and apples. The outlet reported that prison officials considered transferring him to another unit following the discovery, but later decided against it.
In response, a spokesperson for Combs told PEOPLE that the reports were “false and reckless.”
“There have been several false and reckless reports circulating about Mr. Combs,” the spokesperson said. “He has not violated any prison rules. His sobriety and self-discipline are priorities, and he is taking them seriously.”
The representative added that this is Combs’ first week at FCI Fort Dix, noting that rumors are likely to surface throughout his incarceration.
“We ask the public and the press to give him the benefit of the doubt, the privacy to focus on his personal growth, and the grace to move forward in peace,” the statement continued.
A similar message was shared on Combs’ official X (formerly Twitter) account on Saturday, November 8, calling the alcohol reports “completely false.”
“The rumors claiming Mr. Combs was caught with alcohol are completely false. His only focus is becoming the best version of himself and returning to his family,” the post read.
Combs, 56, was sentenced in October to 50 months in prison after being convicted on two counts of transportation to engage in prostitution. He was moved from the Metropolitan Detention Center (MDC) in Brooklyn to the Fort Dix facility on October 30, following requests from his legal team for improved rehabilitation access.
His lawyer, Teny Geragos, had argued that Fort Dix offered better drug recovery programs and family visitation options compared to MDC. U.S. District Judge Arun Subramanian, who sentenced Combs, also recommended that he be considered for substance abuse rehabilitation programs during his incarceration.
