The outlaw rides again.
Robin Hood has officially been renewed for Season 2 at MGM+, following what the platform describes as one of its top-performing original launches.
The medieval drama debuted in November, with its finale airing on December 28. Now, the series is set to return with another 10-episode season, with production scheduled to begin this summer at PFI Studios in Serbia.
A Bigger Battlefield Awaits
Season 1 centered on Sherwood and Nottingham, but the upcoming chapter promises a far more expansive canvas.
According to MGM+, Season 2 will move beyond forest rebellions and into the political courts of England, France, and Rome. The rebellion led by Rob and Marian is set to evolve into a high-stakes struggle that could determine the fate of kingdoms.
The official description hints at power games involving kings and queens, with politics, gold, and betrayal becoming as important as arrows and swords. What began as survival will reportedly transform into a reckoning with power itself — positioning the show as a prestige political drama layered with romance and rivalry.
The Cast Returns
The series stars:
- Jack Patten as Rob (Robin Hood)
- Lauren McQueen as Marian
- Sean Bean as the Sheriff of Nottingham
- Lydia Peckham as Priscilla of Nottingham
- Steven Waddington as the Earl of Huntingdon
- Connie Nielsen as Queen Eleanor of Aquitaine
With its mix of emerging talent and seasoned performers, the show has leaned into character depth rather than pure action spectacle.
Behind the Scenes
Showrunner John Glenn returns as executive producer alongside director Jonathan English and executive producer Todd Lieberman of Hidden Pictures. Lionsgate Television serves as the studio behind the series.
Glenn and English said the renewal allows them to expand the legend in ways that feel both “epic and intimate,” promising a season that raises the emotional stakes while broadening the scope.
MGM+ Global Head Michael Wright noted that the show quickly became one of the network’s top-performing originals, with strong response both in the U.S. and internationally.
Global Reach
In addition to airing in the U.S., the series streams for MGM+ viewers across the UK, Italy, Germany, Spain, Brazil, Mexico, Colombia, Chile, Belgium, and the Netherlands — a clear sign that this reimagining of the classic outlaw myth has found a worldwide audience.
Final Words
Robin Hood has been told and retold for centuries. But this MGM+ version is leaning less into folklore adventure and more into political intrigue and emotional complexity.
With Season 2 expanding beyond Sherwood into royal courts and imperial tensions, the legend is evolving into something grander — and riskier.
The forest rebellion was just the beginning. Now, the battle moves to the throne.
