For fans who grew up watching Friends on television reruns or late-night streaming marathons, Mumbai is about to become a little more nostalgic this June. The globally popular FRIENDS Experience is officially making its India debut, bringing some of the sitcom’s most iconic locations and moments to the city for the very first time. After travelling through more than 33 cities around the world since launching in 2019, the immersive fan event is now set to open in Mumbai on June 12 and 13, starting from 11am onwards.
Created by Warner Bros. Discovery Global Themed Entertainment along with Original X Productions and Warner Bros. Television Group, the attraction is basically designed to make fans feel like they’ve walked directly into the world of Rachel, Ross, Monica, Chandler, Joey, and Phoebe. Instead of just displaying merchandise or posters, the experience recreates actual moments and spaces from the show in a much more interactive way. And honestly, for people who still quote Friends scenes daily, this is probably going to feel dangerously tempting.
Fans Can Recreate Iconic ‘Friends’ Moments In Real Life
One of the biggest highlights of the experience is the recreation of Monica’s apartment, which remains one of the most recognisable sitcom sets ever made. Visitors will be able to walk through the apartment, click photos, and relive some of the show’s classic moments almost exactly the way they appeared onscreen. Fans can also sit in Chandler Bing and Joey Tribbiani’s famous recliners, which honestly feels like one of those tiny television fantasies people never expected to happen in India.
The event also includes recreations of several fan-favourite scenes from the series. That means visitors can attempt the legendary “Pivot!” moment made famous by Ross Geller or pose beside the iconic fountain from the show’s opening credits sequence. Replica costumes and behind-the-scenes elements are also reportedly part of the exhibition, giving longtime viewers another layer of nostalgia beyond the recreated sets themselves.
But of course, the biggest crowd magnet is expected to be the replica of Central Perk. The famous orange couch has become one of television’s most recognisable props over the years, and fans will finally get a chance to sit there themselves while soaking in the atmosphere. For many viewers, Central Perk became almost as memorable as the characters themselves, especially during the peak popularity of the sitcom in the late 1990s and early 2000s.
‘Friends’ Still Remains One Of TV’s Biggest Global Phenomena
Even decades after its original run ended, Friends continues to attract new audiences across generations. The sitcom first premiered in 1994 and eventually became one of the most successful television series in pop culture history. In countries like India especially, the show developed a massive fan following through cable television reruns long before streaming platforms became common. For a lot of viewers, Friends was more than just comedy — it became comfort television people kept returning to repeatedly.
The Mumbai edition of the FRIENDS Experience honestly shows how strong that nostalgia still remains. In recent years, entertainment companies have increasingly started turning classic shows and films into immersive fan attractions because audiences now want experiences instead of just passive viewing. From movie-themed pop-up cafés to interactive exhibitions, nostalgia has become a huge business worldwide, and Friends continues to be one of the safest bets in that space.
For Indian fans who spent years imagining what it would feel like to walk inside Monica’s apartment or hang out at Central Perk, this is probably the closest they’ll get without actually entering the sitcom universe itself.
