Welcome To The Jungle Opens Advance Booking Strong

Star Studios and Times Music

Bollywood’s crowded comedy space is about to get a major new entrant as Welcome To The Jungle prepares to hit theatres on June 26. Carrying one of the industry’s largest ensemble casts in recent years, the Ahmed Khan directorial has started its advance booking campaign ahead of special paid preview shows scheduled across the country.

The film arrives with considerable expectations attached to it. Not only is it the third installment in the popular Welcome franchise, but it also marks the return of several familiar faces alongside a host of new additions. Early ticket sales suggest that audience curiosity is already translating into box office momentum, giving the comedy entertainer a promising start before its official release day.

Early Advance Sales Indicate Positive Audience Interest

With just a day remaining before release, Welcome To The Jungle has begun registering decent traction in advance bookings. According to early trade estimates, the film has already sold more than 15,000 tickets across India, generating over Rs 25 lakh in gross advance revenue.

The numbers become even more encouraging when blocked seats are taken into account. Current estimates suggest the film’s overall advance booking value has crossed Rs 70 lakh gross, indicating that exhibitors are expecting healthy occupancy during the opening weekend. The movie is reportedly releasing on over 3,200 screens nationwide, giving it one of the widest releases among Hindi films this year.

The makers have also planned paid preview screenings before the official release, a strategy increasingly being used to generate early word-of-mouth. Positive audience reactions from these shows could significantly impact opening day collections and help the film gain momentum heading into its first weekend.

For Akshay Kumar, whose recent theatrical releases have delivered mixed results at the box office, Welcome To The Jungle represents an important project. Comedy remains one of the actor’s strongest genres, and the Welcome franchise already enjoys strong recall value among audiences who grew up watching the earlier films.

Raveena Tandon and Akshay Kumar’s Reunion Draws Attention

Among the film’s biggest talking points is the reunion of Akshay Kumar and Raveena Tandon. The two stars, who shared screen space in several successful films during the 1990s, are appearing together after a gap of many years.

While the makers have largely kept details about Raveena’s character under wraps, her presence is expected to add another layer of chaos and humor to the film’s storyline. Fans who fondly remember the duo’s earlier collaborations have been particularly excited to see them share the screen once again.

The nostalgia factor could work in the film’s favor, especially among audiences who have followed Bollywood since the 1990s. At the same time, the younger generation is likely to be drawn by the film’s massive ensemble and its promise of large-scale comedy entertainment.

Comedy franchises have seen a revival in recent years, and Welcome To The Jungle appears to be positioning itself as a throwback to the multi-starrer entertainers that once dominated Hindi cinema.

CBFC Ordered Several Changes Before Release

Ahead of its theatrical debut, Welcome To The Jungle underwent scrutiny from the Central Board of Film Certification. The film was eventually granted a U/A 16+ certificate, though not before the board recommended several modifications.

According to certification details, certain dialogues were altered, while references involving Kashmir, specific hand gestures, and some visual elements including bikini shots were modified before approval. Following these changes, the final theatrical version received a runtime of approximately 2 hours and 44 minutes.

Among the revisions, a few dialogues were rewritten to comply with certification guidelines. Such edits are fairly common for large commercial releases, particularly those featuring broad comedy and mass-market humor. Despite the changes, the overall narrative and comic tone of the film are believed to remain intact.

The lengthy runtime suggests the makers are aiming to provide audiences with a full-scale entertainer packed with multiple characters, parallel storylines, and extended comic set pieces.

One of Bollywood’s Biggest Ensemble Casts in Years

Perhaps the film’s biggest selling point is its enormous cast. Alongside Akshay Kumar and Raveena Tandon, the movie brings together a staggering number of actors from different generations of Hindi cinema.

The cast includes Suniel Shetty, Disha Patani, Jacqueline Fernandez, Arshad Warsi, Jackie Shroff, Paresh Rawal, Lara Dutta, Farida Jalal, Johny Lever, Shreyas Talpade, Tusshar Kapoor, Rajpal Yadav, Krushna Abhishek, Kiku Sharda, Aftab Shivdasani, Mukesh Tiwari, Yashpal Sharma, Kiran Kumar, Zakir Hussain, Vindu Dara Singh, Urvashi Rautela, Puneet Issar, Sudesh Berry and several others.

Managing such a large ensemble is no easy task, and much of the film’s success will depend on how effectively it balances its numerous characters. The original Welcome films became popular largely because of their memorable supporting cast and comic timing, particularly characters played by Paresh Rawal, Nana Patekar, and Anil Kapoor.

This latest installment appears to be attempting an even larger scale approach, with multiple comedians, veteran actors, and commercial stars sharing screen space.

As advance bookings continue to grow ahead of paid previews, industry watchers will be closely monitoring audience reactions. If the comedy connects with viewers and generates strong word-of-mouth, Welcome To The Jungle could give Bollywood one of its biggest comedy openings of the year and potentially revive a franchise that remains popular nearly two decades after it first began.
