After a promising opening weekend, The Vvaan: Force of the Forrest has encountered its first major box-office slowdown.
The Sidharth Malhotra and Tamannaah Bhatia-starrer earned an estimated ₹5.25 crore net in India on Monday, September 28, according to Sacnilk figures cited by multiple outlets. That represents a fall of roughly 63% from Sunday’s ₹14.35 crore, taking the film’s four-day India net collection to around ₹38.85 crore.
The drop is significant, but it comes after a weekend in which The Vvaan consistently grew each day.
The Vvaan’s weekend growth stopped sharply on Monday
The folk-fantasy adventure opened with ₹8 crore on Friday, climbed to ₹11.25 crore on Saturday and then registered its best day on Sunday with ₹14.35 crore. That gave the film approximately ₹33.6 crore net across its first three days.
Monday’s ₹5.25 crore therefore represents a roughly 63.4% day-to-day decline.
A weekday drop after a weekend is normal, particularly for a film that experienced strong Saturday and Sunday growth. The more important question is whether The Vvaan can now stabilize around the ₹4-5 crore range or continue sliding through Tuesday and Wednesday.
The show count makes Monday’s decline more notable. The Indian Express reports that the film played across roughly 7,012 shows on Monday, only slightly fewer than Sunday’s 7,135, meaning the fall came primarily from weaker ticket sales rather than a dramatic reduction in screenings.
The film has crossed ₹50 crore worldwide
Despite Monday’s fall, The Vvaan has already crossed an important global milestone.
The Indian Express estimates the film at approximately ₹50.35 crore worldwide after four days, including around ₹46.35 crore gross from India and ₹4 crore from overseas markets.
Its domestic performance has also put it ahead of several recent Sidharth Malhotra releases.
After four days, The Vvaan has already moved past the lifetime India totals reported for Yodha, Thank God and Hasee Toh Phasee. Its opening weekend was also described as Malhotra’s strongest in roughly 11 years.
That gives the movie some cushion despite the Monday correction.
The bigger challenge is maintaining enough momentum for the rest of the week.
Drishyam: The Conclusion arrives on October 2
The Vvaan has only a few relatively clear weekdays before one of October’s biggest Hindi releases enters theaters.
Ajay Devgn’s Drishyam: The Conclusion opens on October 2, bringing direct competition for screens and multiplex audiences. Trade analyst Taran Adarsh has similarly noted that Monday through Thursday will be particularly important for The Vvaan before the new release arrives.
The film has reportedly been particularly strong in Bihar and other mass-market circuits, which makes sense given its story’s connection to Chhath Puja, folklore and a fictional ancestral village in Bihar.
That regional strength may help it retain screens even if urban multiplex numbers soften.
For now, The Vvaan has two very different box-office stories happening at once.
Its ₹38-plus crore India total and ₹50 crore worldwide haul after four days are healthy enough to keep the film in the conversation, especially following a growing opening weekend. But a 63% Monday fall means the film can no longer rely on weekend momentum alone.
Tuesday’s hold will tell us much more about whether Monday was simply the expected weekday correction—or the beginning of a sharper slowdown.
