Emraan Hashmi and Yami Gautam’s HAQ showed some improvement on its second Saturday, collecting ₹1.10 crore after dropping to ₹60 lakh on Friday. The boost — nearly 45% growth — is reassuring, but the film still needs a steady Sunday to push its second-weekend total closer to ₹3.50 crore.
With its 9-day India nett now standing at ₹15.15 crore, the film is expected to close Sunday somewhere between ₹16.50–₹16.80 crore.
Box Office Pace Still Below Expectations
Despite positive word-of-mouth, the film’s overall trend continues to fall short of what the industry expected. HAQ needed stronger promotions and a better pre-release campaign to secure a solid opening, but the marketing never quite clicked.
Adding to the pressure is Ajay Devgn’s De De Pyaar De 2, which is also underperforming but still competing for screens and attention.
For HAQ to turn things around, the legal drama requires an unexpectedly strong run over the next two weeks — something that’s looking increasingly difficult but not entirely impossible.
Next Challenge: New Release ‘120 Bahadur’
The film will face fresh competition next weekend with the arrival of 120 Bahadur. If HAQ manages to hold well despite the new entry, its lifetime India target could shift up towards ₹25 crore nett, which would be a respectable finish in the current circumstances.
Directed by Suparn Varma, known for The Family Man 2 and Sirf Ek Bandaa Kaafi Hai, HAQ draws inspiration from the historic Shah Bano vs Ahmad Khan case that shook India in 1985.
