Director Suparn S Varma’s courtroom drama Haq, starring Yami Gautam and Emraan Hashmi, continues its steady run at the box office. The film, inspired by the landmark Shah Bano Begum case, witnessed growth over the weekend but has now begun to slow down as it enters the weekday phase.

According to early estimates from Sacnilk, Haq collected around ₹0.07 crore on Tuesday (Day 5), bringing its total domestic earnings to approximately ₹10.02 crore.
The film recorded an overall 9.70% occupancy on Monday, with night shows performing the best (12.91%), followed by evening (10.91%), afternoon (9.46%), and morning screenings (5.52%). Despite the dip, the film’s consistent numbers over five days indicate solid word-of-mouth among certain audience groups.

While Haq has been praised for its performances and subject matter, especially Yami Gautam Dhar’s powerful portrayal, critics noted that its slow-paced narrative and heavy tone may have limited its mass appeal.

The film dramatizes the historic Mohd Ahmed Khan vs Shah Bano Begum case — one of India’s most significant legal battles over women’s rights. Based partly on Jigna Vora’s book Bano: Bharat Ki Beti, the story follows Shah Bano, who was divorced by her husband in 1978 and sought maintenance through the courts.
