The full trailer for Nayyi Navelli has finally revealed just how much bigger Yami Gautam’s supernatural bride story is than its teaser initially suggested. What began as a family suspecting its seemingly perfect new bahu of being a “daayan” now expands into a Dussehra-set fantasy in which Mohini appears to take on forces associated with Ravana itself.
The new footage keeps the comic Meerut-family setup established in the teaser, but pushes the film toward a more mythological scale. Yami’s Mohini is no longer presented simply as the possible supernatural threat hiding inside the Awasthi household. The trailer increasingly frames her as the person standing between the family — and eventually a larger Dussehra celebration — and something far more dangerous.
That shift is clearest in the trailer’s imagery of Mohini drawing a bow and confronting Ravana, turning the familiar festival symbolism of good defeating evil into part of the movie’s actual fantasy conflict.
From suspicious bahu to supernatural protector
The teaser released earlier this month deliberately played with one central question: is Mohini really a daayan?
Amazon MGM Studios’ official description introduced her as a “picture-perfect bride” who transforms a chaotic Meerut household, only for her brother-in-law to suspect that their blessing may actually be a witch in disguise. The teaser leaned heavily into that uncertainty, even showing Mohini levitating while her frightened family reacts to increasingly strange events.
The trailer appears to partially flip that setup.
Rather than positioning Mohini as the film’s main source of danger, it suggests that the “daayan” label may be an incomplete or deliberately misleading reading of her powers. The story now seems to be moving toward a transformation from feared outsider to protector, with the film using Dussehra’s traditional victory-of-good-over-evil imagery as part of its climax. Indian Express similarly describes the trailer as moving Mohini from “daayan” toward a more goddess-like role as she confronts Ravana.
That gives Nayyi Navelli a more interesting hook than a standard horror-comedy built around whether the new bride is possessed.
The trailer expands the world teased earlier
The first promo sold the film as a “fantasy family entertainer,” even cheekily placing it somewhere between the madness of Tanu Weds Manu and the mystery of Tumbbad.
The new trailer makes that description easier to understand. The domestic comedy is still there, but the stakes appear to grow beyond one suspicious brother-in-law and one unusual daughter-in-law. As the footage moves closer to Dussehra, the movie begins using mythological visual language more openly, especially around Mohini’s battle-ready transformation.
That also explains why the filmmakers have tied the release so closely to the festival season.
Nayyi Navelli will open in cinemas on October 16, 2026, around Dussehra. The film is directed by Balaji Mohan, with a story by Himanshu Sharma and screenplay and dialogues by Divy Nidhi Sharma. Aanand L Rai and Himanshu Sharma are producing through Colour Yellow, with Amazon MGM Studios presenting the film.
The supporting cast includes Addinath Kothare, Mita Vashisht, Sunita Rajwar, Sushmita Mukherjee, Suneel Sinha and Sonal Jha, while G.V. Prakash Kumar has composed the music.

The most useful takeaway from the trailer is that Dussehra does not appear to be merely a convenient release window.
The festival itself seems woven into the movie’s visual and thematic payoff. Ravana is traditionally burned during Dussehra as a symbol of the destruction of evil, and the trailer places Mohini directly inside that imagery by giving her a bow and turning the celebration into a battleground.
That makes the October 16 date unusually well matched to the film’s premise.
It also gives Nayyi Navelli a clearer identity after a teaser that intentionally kept Mohini’s true nature vague. The marketing first asked viewers to wonder whether the new bride was a daayan. The trailer now suggests that the more important question may be what exactly she is — and why someone with those powers is needed when Ravana enters the picture.
With just over two weeks left before release, the filmmakers are still holding back the full explanation of Mohini’s supernatural identity. That mystery may ultimately be the film’s biggest reveal, and the trailer is smart enough not to answer it completely.
