Mouni Roy has finally reacted after days of intense speculation surrounding her marriage with businessman Suraj Nambiar. The actress took to Instagram Stories on Wednesday to address the growing rumours and requested media outlets and social media users to stop spreading what she described as “false narratives” about her personal life.
In her statement, Mouni wrote, “Humbly requesting all the media houses to not publish false narratives and give us space and privacy. Please.” She also added a folded hands emoji, making it clear that she wanted people to stop publicly dissecting her relationship.

The rumours began circulating after fans noticed unusual activity on Instagram involving the couple. Social media users claimed Mouni and Suraj had apparently unfollowed each other, triggering widespread speculation about possible problems in their marriage. Soon after, reports also surfaced suggesting Suraj had deleted his Instagram account entirely, which only added more fuel to the discussion online.
Interestingly, despite the online chatter, Mouni has not removed old photos with Suraj from her Instagram profile. Pictures from their 2022 wedding ceremonies and honeymoon still remain visible on her account, something many fans pointed out while debating the situation online.
The conversation around the couple became even louder after reports claimed Disha Patani had also unfollowed Suraj Nambiar on Instagram amid the rumours. That unexpected development quickly sparked additional gossip across entertainment pages and fan communities, though no one involved has publicly commented on it directly.
Mouni and Suraj’s relationship has largely remained low-key compared to many celebrity marriages. The two reportedly first met during a New Year celebration in Dubai back in 2018 through mutual friends. At the time, Suraj was based in Dubai while Mouni continued working in Mumbai, leading the couple into a long-distance relationship for several years before marriage.
The couple tied the knot in January 2022 in Goa with both Malayali and Bengali wedding ceremonies, reflecting their cultural backgrounds. Their wedding celebrations included haldi and mehendi functions and quickly became one of the most talked-about celebrity weddings of that year. Before marriage, however, Mouni had mostly kept the relationship private and rarely spoke publicly about Suraj.
When sharing their wedding photos after the ceremony, the actress had written an emotional caption saying she had finally “found him at last,” while asking fans for love and blessings as they began their married life together.
The recent rumours have naturally shocked many fans because Mouni and Suraj frequently shared affectionate pictures together online over the last few years. Public appearances, vacations, and social media posts often presented them as one of the more stable celebrity couples in the industry, which is why the sudden Instagram activity drew immediate attention.
So far, though, neither Mouni nor Suraj has directly confirmed any separation or breakup. Mouni’s latest statement also avoided addressing specific rumours individually and instead focused mainly on asking for privacy and discouraging speculation.
On the professional front, Mouni remains active across television, films, and digital projects. She first became widely popular through Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi before achieving massive fame with Devon Ke Dev… Mahadev opposite Mohit Raina. She later became one of television’s biggest stars through Naagin produced by Ektaa Kapoor.
The actress also successfully transitioned into Bollywood with films like Gold alongside Akshay Kumar and later gained further attention for playing the antagonist Junoon in Brahmastra: Part One – Shiva starring Ranbir Kapoor, Alia Bhatt, Nagarjuna and Amitabh Bachchan. For now, Mouni’s message appears to be an attempt to slow down the constant speculation and shift attention away from her private life until she chooses to speak further — if at all.
