Yash Raj Films’ ambitious spy thriller Alpha has been pushed back once again. The film, which stars Alia Bhatt and Sharvari in the lead, will no longer release in April 2026, as the makers have decided to steer clear of a box office clash with Salman Khan’s upcoming war drama Battle Of Galwan.

The update was shared by trade analyst Taran Adarsh, confirming another shift in the film’s already delayed release plan.

Alpha moves out of April 2026

Alpha, a key installment in the YRF Spy Universe, was earlier locked for April 17, 2026. However, according to Taran Adarsh, the studio has now chosen to vacate the date to avoid competing with Salman Khan’s big-ticket release.

In his post, Taran revealed that YRF will announce a fresh release date only after closely evaluating the theatrical calendar over the coming months. The move is being seen as a strategic call, especially given the scale and genre overlap between the two films.

Not the first delay for the film

This isn’t the first time Alpha has seen a postponement. The film was originally slated to arrive during Christmas 2025, but was pushed back earlier due to extended post-production work. Reports at the time suggested that the makers needed additional time for visual effects and overall finishing touches.

With the April 2026 date now off the table as well, Alpha is expected to release sometime in the second half of 2026, though an official date is yet to be announced.

Why Alpha matters to YRF’s Spy Universe

Directed by Shiv Rawail, Alpha holds special significance for Yash Raj Films. It is the sixth film in the YRF Spy Universe, which already includes blockbuster franchises like Tiger, War, and Pathaan.

The film was formally teased through a post-credits scene in War 2, setting the stage for a new chapter in the interconnected spy saga. Along with Alia Bhatt and Sharvari, the film also stars Bobby Deol in a pivotal role.

Most notably, Alpha marks YRF’s first female-led spy thriller, making it a crucial and highly anticipated addition to the franchise.

Final words

With Alpha moving dates once again, expectations around the film continue to build — and so does the pressure to deliver. While the delay may test fans’ patience, the decision to avoid a direct clash with Battle Of Galwan suggests YRF is playing the long game.

For now, all eyes are on the studio’s next move — and when Alpha will finally take aim at the big screen.
