Shanaya Kapoor was originally set to make her big-screen entry with Dharma Productions’ much-hyped Bedhadak. But when the film was eventually shelved, her launch plans hit an unexpected pause.

She revealed that he consistently encouraged her to stay focused on improvement rather than outcomes. If she wasn’t getting camera time, he advised her to pick up scenes and perform anyway — to keep practicing and refining her skills.

Her Actual Debut & Aftermath
Shanaya eventually made her acting debut opposite Vikrant Massey in Aankhon Ki Gustaakhiyan. While the romantic drama marked her formal entry into Bollywood, it didn’t set the box office on fire.
However, her journey didn’t stop there.
Her latest release, Tu Yaa Main, sees her alongside Adarsh Gourav in a survival thriller directed by Bejoy Nambiar and backed by Aanand L Rai’s production house. The film, a remake of the 2018 Thai thriller The Pool, opened to mixed reviews and collected approximately ₹4.75 crore worldwide in its initial run.
From Assistant Director to Leading Lady
Before stepping in front of the camera, Shanaya began her industry journey behind it, working as an assistant director on Gunjan Saxena: The Kargil Girl.
Her originally announced debut film, Bedhadak, was supposed to launch her alongside Lakshya and Gurfateh Pirzada, but the project was eventually shelved.
That detour, however, may have given her more time to prepare for the spotlight.
