‘Drishyam 3’ Worldwide Box Office Day 1: Ajay Devgn Opens at ₹95 Crore

Vijay Salgaonkar has returned with the biggest opening of Ajay Devgn’s career.

Drishyam: The Conclusion, also being referred to as Drishyam 3, grossed an estimated ₹95.10 crore worldwide on its opening day, narrowly missing the ₹100 crore global mark after releasing in cinemas on October 2. The Abhishek Pathak-directed thriller earned an estimated ₹66.75 crore net in India, according to Sacnilk, translating to approximately ₹80.10 crore gross domestically. Overseas markets contributed another estimated ₹15 crore.

The numbers should be treated as trade estimates rather than audited studio figures. Bollywood Hungama, for example, currently places the India opening slightly lower at ₹64.50 crore net, illustrating the normal variation between box-office trackers.

Whichever tracker is used, however, the broader conclusion is unchanged: The Conclusion has delivered a significantly larger opening than the previous Drishyam films and established a new Day 1 benchmark for Devgn.

‘Drishyam 3’ Day 1 worldwide collection breaks down to ₹95.10 crore

The early worldwide estimate can be broken down relatively simply:

India net: ₹66.75 crore
India gross: ₹80.10 crore
Overseas gross: approximately ₹15 crore
Worldwide gross: approximately ₹95.10 crore

Those figures come from Sacnilk’s current estimates and are being widely cited across trade reporting on October 3.

The overseas contribution is particularly important because domestic net collections cannot simply be added directly to overseas gross. For a worldwide total, India gross needs to be combined with the overseas gross figure.

That distinction can sometimes create confusing headlines around major Indian releases.

In this case, the calculation is straightforward: ₹80.10 crore gross from India plus roughly ₹15 crore internationally produces the ₹95.10 crore worldwide estimate.

Ajay Devgn has comfortably beaten his previous opening record

The bigger story is not simply that Drishyam 3 came close to ₹100 crore globally.

It is how far the franchise has grown.

Hindustan Times reports that the ₹66.75 crore India net start represents Ajay Devgn’s biggest opening day, turning a franchise that began as a relatively grounded suspense drama into one of the actor’s strongest theatrical properties.

The growth becomes clearer when compared with Drishyam 2.

That film opened at ₹15.38 crore net in India in November 2022. The Conclusion has therefore opened at more than four times that figure based on the current ₹66.75 crore estimate.

That kind of franchise growth is unusual because Drishyam is not built around the ingredients that normally create ₹60 crore-plus opening days.

There are no superhero effects, giant-scale action set pieces or pan-India fantasy spectacle driving the marketing. The selling point is essentially Vijay Salgaonkar thinking several moves ahead of everyone trying to catch him.

By the third film, that has become enough of an event in itself.

Advance booking turned Vijay Salgaonkar’s return into an event

The opening did not appear out of nowhere.

Advance booking began on September 27 and developed rapidly as the release approached. By opening day, reports said the film had crossed ₹50 crore in overall advance sales, contributing to unusually strong occupancy from the morning onward.

Sacnilk eventually reported 15,759 shows nationwide for Day 1, with approximately 60% overall Hindi occupancy.

The Gandhi Jayanti holiday also helped create the conditions for a very large Friday.

But advance sales alone do not explain the entire number.

The Drishyam films have gradually transformed Vijay Salgaonkar into the attraction. Audiences are not simply waiting to discover whether the police find another piece of evidence; they are waiting to discover what Vijay already anticipated and how far back his next plan began.

That makes the franchise unusually resistant to conventional thriller fatigue.

The central crime is no longer the mystery.

Vijay’s solution is.

‘The Conclusion’ now has a realistic shot at ₹100 crore worldwide on Day 2

Missing ₹100 crore on opening day by roughly ₹5 crore is more symbolic than consequential.

At ₹95.10 crore worldwide, The Conclusion should move past the ₹100 crore global benchmark early in its second day unless collections collapse unexpectedly.

More important will be whether the film can convert its enormous opening into a sustained weekend.

The movie arrived with broadly positive early audience reactions and reviews, which gives it a stronger chance of avoiding the steep Day 2 declines that sometimes follow heavily front-loaded releases. Hindustan Times reported that the opening has already placed it among the largest Hindi-film starts ever.

Saturday advance booking also remains substantial. Sacnilk reported more than ₹25 crore worth of Day 2 advance sales in its latest update, although advance-booking numbers and eventual net collections should not be treated as interchangeable.

The real question is therefore no longer whether the final Drishyam can outperform its predecessors.

It already has.

The question is how quickly.

One number still needs caution

Box-office reporting in India rarely produces one universally agreed figure immediately after release.

Sacnilk currently estimates the India net opening at ₹66.75 crore, while Bollywood Hungama reports ₹64.50 crore.

That ₹2.25 crore difference does not materially change the film’s performance, but it is worth acknowledging rather than presenting one tracker’s estimate as an audited final number.

The ₹95.10 crore worldwide figure is currently the most widely circulated Day 1 estimate, built from the higher Sacnilk India total and approximately ₹15 crore overseas.

Producer-reported figures could still differ when officially released.

For now, though, Vijay Salgaonkar’s final chapter has done something the previous two films never came close to doing: turn the Drishyam name into a near-₹100 crore worldwide opening-day franchise.

And for Ajay Devgn, ₹95 crore globally in one day gives The Conclusion exactly the kind of box-office opening a farewell chapter would want.
