Despite facing mixed-to-negative reviews, The Raja Saab has managed to put up strong numbers at the box office. Starring Prabhas in the lead, the horror comedy has crossed ₹112 crore worldwide, prompting the makers to host a celebratory press conference on Saturday.
The event brought together the cast and crew, who addressed both the film’s performance and the chatter surrounding its reception.
Maruthi on Industry Support and Allu Arjun’s Call
Speaking at the success meet, director Maruthi made it clear that he is far from disheartened by the criticism. In fact, he revealed that several friends from the industry have personally reached out to him since the film’s release.
“My director friends and producers have been calling me constantly,” Maruthi said. “Yesterday morning, my friend Bunny babu (Allu Arjun) called me to talk about the film. So please don’t think I’m feeling sad about anything.”
He added that The Raja Saab was an attempt to try something new and that the team is genuinely happy with how audiences are responding to it in theatres.
‘Celebrate It Like a Festival’
Maruthi also urged fans to enjoy the film without overthinking the criticism.
“Please celebrate the film like a festival,” he said. “This is our gift to audiences ahead of the festive season. We worked extremely hard on The Raja Saab, and all the love means a lot to us.”
His comments echoed the makers’ stance that the film was designed as a mass entertainer meant for big-screen enjoyment.
New Prabhas Scenes Added After Release
Addressing one of the biggest talking points surrounding the film, producer TG Vishwa Prasad of People Media Factory confirmed that new scenes featuring Prabhas in his older look have now been added to the theatrical version.
“There was a four-minute portion missing due to a server issue,” he explained. “We had the output ready earlier, but it required minor clean-up. That’s now done, and the updated version has been sent to theatres.”
The runtime remains unchanged, with adjustments made to the credits to accommodate the new footage.

While The Raja Saab may have divided critics, its box-office performance and continued buzz suggest that audiences are still showing up. With industry support — including a personal call from Allu Arjun — and updated scenes now rolling out in theatres, the makers are clearly standing by their vision and inviting fans to enjoy the film as a larger-than-life festive entertainer.
