If you’re counting down the years until Frozen 3 arrives in 2027, Disney has a surprise: you might soon be able to start creating your own Disney-style content before then — right inside Disney+.

During Disney’s fourth-quarter and full-year 2025 earnings call, CEO Bob Iger revealed that the streaming service is preparing for its most radical redesign ever. Describing it as “the biggest and most significant changes since we launched the service in 2019,” Iger outlined a major shift in how Disney+ will look, feel, and function in the near future.

Disney+ Will Introduce Game Features Through Epic Games Partnership

One of the biggest updates will be the arrival of game-like features on Disney+. While this doesn’t mean full video games on the platform, Disney’s partnership with Epic Games will bring interactive elements and gaming-adjacent experiences into the streaming ecosystem.

The deal also allows Disney’s massive library of characters and worlds — from Marvel and Star Wars to Pixar and classic animation — to appear within Epic’s gaming platforms.

AI-Generated Short-Form Content Is Coming to Disney+

But the most attention-grabbing update came from Iger’s comments about gen-AI tools being built into Disney+.

According to Iger, users will soon be able to:

  • Create their own short-form content using AI tools
  • Share those creations with other viewers
  • Consume AI-generated UGC (user-generated content)

“The other thing we’re really excited about… is the ability for users of Disney+ to create user-generated content — mostly short-form — and to consume user-generated content from others,” Iger said.

This could put Disney+ in direct competition with platforms like TikTok, YouTube Shorts, and even OpenAI’s Sora — or perhaps, as Iger hinted, Disney may end up partnering with leading AI companies instead of competing with them.

AI Partnerships Underway — But IP Protection Comes First

Iger confirmed Disney has held “productive conversations” with several unnamed AI companies. But he stressed one non-negotiable: protecting Disney’s intellectual property, which includes some of the most valuable characters in the world.

As he put it, Disney is eager to innovate — but not so eager that it lets AI take control of Mickey Mouse, Elsa, Marvel heroes, or Lilo & Stitch.

Disney+ Sees Subscriber Growth as Content Spending Rises

Alongside the big product reveals, Disney posted strong Q4 numbers:

  • Disney+ added 3.8 million new subscribers
  • Streaming profits increased
  • Disney plans to invest $1 billion more in content in 2026 than in 2025
  • The company also offered a small update on its ongoing carriage battle with YouTube TV

The Hollywood Reporter reached out for more details about Disney+’s AI plans, but Disney has not yet provided further information.

A More Interactive Disney+ Future

If Disney follows through on its strategy, the platform could evolve from a streaming service into a hybrid entertainment space that blends:

  • Streaming
  • Gaming
  • Short-form video
  • AI-powered creativity

For fans, that could mean building Disney-inspired shorts, experimenting with characters, or creating stylized scenes long before the next big animated film hits theatres.

One thing’s clear: Disney+ is gearing up to become far more than just a place to watch movies.
