The wait for Ramayana finally has a confirmed date. The makers of Nitesh Tiwari’s mythological epic have announced that Ramayana: Part One, starring Ranbir Kapoor and Yash, will arrive in cinemas worldwide on November 5, 2026, three days before Diwali. The announcement, made on October 11 during Navratri, also confirms that advance bookings will open on Dussehra.
The filmmakers accompanied the announcement with a new ensemble poster featuring Ranbir Kapoor as Lord Rama, Sai Pallavi as Sita and Ravie Dubey as Lakshman, with Yash’s imposing Ravana appearing in the background.
Sharing the artwork, the makers wrote, “Yeh Ram ke Yug ka Aarambh hai,” signalling the beginning of their ambitious two-part adaptation of the ancient Indian epic.
Ramayana’s November 5 Release Ends Date Confusion
The announcement clears up weeks of uncertainty surrounding the film’s theatrical schedule.
Sony Pictures’ earlier international trailer had advertised November 6 as the worldwide release date, while subsequent reports suggested that the film could arrive a day earlier in several overseas territories.
The latest announcement now establishes November 5 as the official worldwide opening date, including India. The film will release in Hindi, Tamil, Telugu, Kannada and Malayalam, with IMAX and other premium theatrical formats forming part of its global rollout.
Advance bookings are scheduled to begin on Dussehra, giving the makers an opportunity to measure audience demand before the festive release.
Ranbir Kapoor and Yash Lead an Ambitious Two-Part Epic
Directed by Nitesh Tiwari and produced by Namit Malhotra, Ramayana features Ranbir Kapoor as Rama, Yash as Ravana, Sai Pallavi as Sita, Sunny Deol as Hanuman and Ravie Dubey as Lakshman.
The film also brings together Oscar-winning composers A.R. Rahman and Hans Zimmer, while DNEG is handling its extensive visual effects.
Produced by Prime Focus Studios in association with Monster Mind Creations and DNEG, the project has been designed for international audiences. Sony Pictures is overseeing distribution outside India, while Dharma Productions is handling the Hindi-speaking markets in North India.
The November 5 date is significant because it gives the film a coordinated international launch ahead of the Diwali holiday period. It also places considerable importance on advance ticket sales, particularly given the scale of the production and its worldwide distribution plans.
The story will continue in Ramayana: Part Two, currently scheduled for Diwali 2027.
With its theatrical date finally confirmed, attention now turns to the film’s advance bookings and whether the much-anticipated adaptation can translate its enormous expectations into a strong global box-office opening.
