Rajinikanth’s Jailer 2 is off to an impressive start even before reaching cinemas. The Nelson Dilipkumar-directed action thriller crossed ₹20 crore in reported worldwide advance bookings within roughly 24 hours of opening domestic pre-sales, signalling strong anticipation for the superstar’s return as Tiger Muthuvel Pandian. With the film scheduled for release on October 15, 2026, its early ticket sales suggest a potentially massive opening.
According to box-office tracking reports, Jailer 2 had collected approximately ₹22.32 crore in worldwide advance bookings by October 11. Overseas markets contributed more than ₹17 crore, while domestic pre-sales reached approximately ₹5.32 crore. The figures are particularly encouraging because advance bookings had not yet fully opened across all Indian markets.
Jailer 2 Advance Booking Shows Strong Overseas Demand
International audiences are leading the film’s pre-release momentum. North America has emerged as a major contributor, with strong interest also reported in the UAE, UK, Australia and European markets.
In India, Tamil Nadu dominates advance ticket sales, accounting for the overwhelming majority of domestic collections. Chennai alone contributed approximately ₹2.50 crore in advance bookings, reflecting Rajinikanth’s enduring popularity in his home market.
The film had sold more than 2.9 lakh tickets in India by the reported update, with additional sales expected as bookings expanded across other regions and dubbed versions.
However, these figures represent advance ticket sales rather than actual opening-day earnings. Whether Jailer 2 establishes new box-office records will depend on its final pre-sales, walk-in audiences and theatrical performance.
Can Jailer 2 Beat the Original Film’s Opening?
The sequel faces a considerable benchmark set by its predecessor.
Released in August 2023, Jailer collected approximately ₹96.36 crore worldwide on its opening day, including ₹48.35 crore net in India, according to Sacnilk. The film eventually earned around ₹604.50 crore worldwide, becoming one of Rajinikanth’s biggest commercial successes.
For Jailer 2, matching that opening would require substantial additional ticket sales and strong audience turnout on release day. Its early international demand provides an encouraging foundation, but the current advance-booking total cannot yet establish a record-breaking debut.
Produced by Sun Pictures, the sequel reunites Rajinikanth with director Nelson Dilipkumar and composer Anirudh Ravichander. The ensemble includes Ramya Krishnan, Yogi Babu, SJ Suryah, Vidya Balan and Suraj Venjaramoodu.
With four days remaining before release, the next major indicator will be how quickly domestic bookings accelerate, particularly outside Tamil Nadu.
For now, Jailer 2 has demonstrated considerable pre-release demand. Its biggest test begins on October 15, when those impressive advance sales will finally translate into theatrical box-office collections.
