Veteran actress and model Zarine Khan, wife of actor-producer Sanjay Khan, passed away at the age of 81. As per reports, she had been suffering from age-related health complications and succumbed to a cardiac arrest. Her passing has left the Hindi film fraternity in deep mourning, with close friends and family visiting her residence to offer condolences and pay their final respects.
Before marrying Sanjay Khan, Zarine had a thriving modelling career and was once considered a strong contender for the Miss India title. However, her career took a back seat after marriage — a decision she made out of love and loyalty.

In an earlier interview with iDiva, Zarine opened up about her early days with Sanjay Khan, sharing a candid glimpse into their relationship. Their romance began when Sanjay was just starting out as an actor. At the time, he was still finding his footing in the industry.
“He was underweight and the doctor had asked him to eat eight bananas and a pack of butter every day,” she recalled with a smile.
Zarine, meanwhile, was making waves in the fashion world, already being hailed as the next big thing in Indian modelling. But their growing closeness also brought challenges.
“When I walked the ramp, Abbas would be sitting right behind, growling,” Zarine once said. “He didn’t have a job then, and that made him even more insecure.”

At one point, Zarine received a life-changing offer from supermodel Persis Khambatta, who wanted to take her to London on a two-year modelling contract. But Sanjay — then her boyfriend — gave her an ultimatum that would change the course of her life.
“Persis wanted me to go to London with her, but Abbas said, ‘Either you go or you stay with me.’ I chose to stay,” Zarine revealed. “And I have no regrets. I have a family today. Abbas liked churidars, so I started wearing them.”
