For years, Salman Khan has largely kept family matters away from public discussion, making his latest conversation on Alliance all the more surprising. In the newest episode of the show, the superstar sat down with his younger brother Sohail Khan for an emotional heart-to-heart about the end of his marriage with Seema Sajdeh. Rather than focusing on controversy, Salman reflected on the emotional toll that a long-term relationship and eventual separation can have on everyone involved, including the children and extended family.
The conversation offered viewers a rare glimpse into the Khan family’s personal side. Salman spoke candidly about the difficult phase Sohail went through after the marriage ended and acknowledged that both Sohail and Seema had tried to make the relationship work before ultimately deciding to part ways. His words struck an emotional chord as he encouraged his brother to embrace the future instead of dwelling on the past.
Salman reflects on Sohail and Seema’s marriage
During the episode, Salman addressed comments Seema Sajdeh had made in earlier interviews, where she described their marriage as “toxic.” While discussing the subject, the actor emphasized that disagreements are a part of almost every relationship and that every couple eventually reaches a point where they must decide whether to continue working through their problems or walk away.
Without changing his words, Salman said, “You are taking some blame on to you. I understand that you would not say that it was mutual. I saw some interviews (of Seema) saying as a couple it was toxic, we had fights and all….every couple has fights. It’s for you to stick in it or to leave. I know as a brother what we say, you tried your best, and she also, but at that point in time, halat were not in your favour.”
His remarks suggested that he never viewed the separation as the responsibility of one person alone. Instead, he acknowledged that circumstances sometimes reach a stage where even sincere efforts are no longer enough to save a relationship.
“It all started with one picture”
As the conversation continued, Salman recalled how the marriage slowly unraveled despite Sohail’s attempts to repair it. He reflected on how one incident gradually snowballed into something much bigger, eventually becoming impossible to reverse.
Without altering his statement, Salman said, “Jitni koshish karni thi karli (You tried as hard as you could), and you know it all started with one picture, and it kept on escalating, and it reached a place where you couldn’t stop. No matter how much you tried to convince her and wanted to be in the relationship. That chapter is gone. I am glad that things are normal now. But as an older brother, I know the pain for you, for us and even for Seema and even for kids. I mean, you have had breakups before, but you were never like this.”
His comments made it clear that the divorce affected far more than just the couple themselves. Salman acknowledged the emotional impact on both families as well as on Sohail and Seema’s children, while expressing relief that relations have since become more peaceful.
Salman encourages Sohail to move forward
The Bollywood star also looked back at happier memories from the beginning of Sohail and Seema’s relationship. He remembered receiving the phone call from Sohail while he was filming Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam, when his younger brother informed him that the wedding plans had been finalized. Salman contrasted those joyful memories with the heartbreak of watching the marriage come to an end after more than two decades together.
Without changing his words, Salman said, “After breakup you would be sad for couple of days and then move on. After 2-3 relationships, you met Seema, and I remember the day things were finalised, and I was shooting for Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam when you called me. And a week later, you said we are getting married. From that time to when you guys separated. It was difficult for you because obviously, who wants to be in that relationship and is trying to give their best in the relationship will be more hurt. But I hope you are okay now. Start dating someone now, move on now.”
The advice reflected an older brother’s concern more than anything else. Rather than dwelling on the past, Salman encouraged Sohail to begin a new chapter in life while accepting that some relationships, despite every effort, eventually reach their conclusion.
Sohail Khan and Seema Sajdeh married in 1998 and remained together for over 20 years before officially divorcing in 2022. The former couple share two sons, Nirvaan and Yohan, and have continued to co-parent following their separation. Their relationship has often remained in the public eye, especially after Seema opened up about their marriage in recent interviews and on reality television. Salman’s emotional conversation has now added another perspective to that chapter, offering viewers a deeply personal look at how the family processed one of its most difficult moments.
