Welcome To The Jungle Day 1 Worldwide Hits ₹29.30 Crore

Star Studios and Times Music

The return of the Welcome franchise has given Akshay Kumar one of his strongest theatrical openings in recent times. Welcome To The Jungle arrived in cinemas on June 26 after holding paid preview shows a day earlier, and the film has kicked off its box office journey with encouraging numbers both in India and overseas. Even though audience reactions have been mixed in some places, the film’s large ensemble cast and the popularity of the comedy franchise helped pull crowds into theatres. Its opening-day performance has now placed it among Bollywood’s biggest launches of the year.

Welcome To The Jungle Starts Strong At The Worldwide Box Office

According to early trade figures from Sacnilk, Welcome To The Jungle collected ₹15.25 crore net across India on its first full day in theatres. When combined with its ₹3.75 crore from paid previews, the film’s India net total reaches ₹19 crore. The India gross collection stands at ₹22.80 crore, while international markets contributed another ₹6.50 crore, taking the film’s worldwide gross collection to ₹29.30 crore after its opening day.

The opening numbers have also helped the film move ahead of several recent Bollywood releases. It has comfortably crossed the worldwide Day 1 figures of Cocktail 2, starring Shahid Kapoor, Rashmika Mandanna and Kriti Sanon, which reportedly opened with ₹23.45 crore globally. It has also edged past Akshay Kumar’s previous release Bhooth Bangla, which had recorded a worldwide opening of ₹28.70 crore. With these figures, Welcome To The Jungle has secured the position of the third-biggest Hindi opener of the year, behind Border 2 and Dhurandhar: The Revenge.

For the makers, the weekend now becomes the real test. Comedy films often depend heavily on family audiences, and positive word of mouth over Saturday and Sunday can make a noticeable difference to their overall theatrical run. If collections remain steady through the weekend, the film could build a solid foundation before the weekday slowdown begins.

A Bigger Franchise Entry With One Of Bollywood’s Largest Casts

Unlike the previous films, Welcome To The Jungle raises the scale with an unusually large ensemble featuring some of Bollywood’s most familiar comedy faces. The story follows a chaotic mix of gangsters, criminals and eccentric characters whose lives collide deep inside a jungle near the border. What begins as an operation that resembles a movie shoot soon turns into a series of unpredictable events involving action, mistaken identities and plenty of comic confusion.

The film features Akshay Kumar, Suniel Shetty, Paresh Rawal, Arshad Warsi, Rajpal Yadav, Disha Patani, Jacqueline Fernandez, Tusshar Kapoor, Lara Dutta, Raveena Tandon, along with several other actors playing important roles. Produced by A. A. Nadiadwala, Cape of Good Films, Star Studio18, Seeta Films, and Rakesh Dang, the movie serves as the third chapter in one of Bollywood’s most recognizable comedy franchises. The makers have clearly focused on delivering a larger cinematic spectacle while retaining the franchise’s trademark mix of humour and over-the-top situations.

Director Ahmed Khan had previously spoken about the enormous challenge of managing such a massive production. Recalling the scale of filming, he told The Hollywood Reporter India, “Imagine setting up a shoot of this scale; we didn’t just need one ground, we had to find two massive adjacent grounds. Why? Because we needed space to park 50 vanity vans. We needed additional holding areas for the background actors and cabins for the main unit. Then consider the commute. The actors arrived in their cars, the technicians in theirs, plus separate vehicles for the makeup teams, hair stylists and personal staff. We were dealing with 200 to 250 cars arriving every day. Managing our set was less like running a traditional film shoot and more like organising a massive music concert every single day!”

Early Reviews Lean Positive As Weekend Becomes Crucial

While critics have shared varied opinions, many have agreed that the film stays true to its purpose of delivering light-hearted entertainment instead of chasing emotional depth. Fans of the franchise have particularly appreciated the return of familiar comedy faces, energetic performances and large-scale comic sequences that dominate much of the runtime. The nostalgic appeal of the Welcome brand continues to be one of the film’s strongest selling points.
