Ranabaali Makers Deny Ticket Hike, Confirm Standard Prices

Vijay Deverakonda and Rashmika Mandanna’s Ranabaali will arrive in theatres without the ticket-price increase that had recently been reported. Mythri Movie Makers has issued an official clarification denying that it sought permission for higher rates in either Andhra Pradesh or Telangana, confirming that the period action drama will instead play at standard ticket prices.

The statement followed reports suggesting that the producers had requested an additional ₹50 increase in Andhra Pradesh ahead of the film’s October 16 release. According to the production house, that claim was incorrect.

“We have not applied for any ticket price hikes in either of the Telugu States,” Mythri Movie Makers said while describing the reports as “completely false.”

The studio then made the release strategy explicit: “Ranabaali will release at standard ticket prices.”

Why the clarification matters for Ranabaali

Ticket pricing has increasingly become part of the conversation around major Telugu releases, particularly expensive event films looking to maximize opening-week revenue.

Producers can approach the governments in Andhra Pradesh and Telangana seeking permission for increased ticket rates or special arrangements during a film’s initial theatrical run. That is why reports of a possible ₹50 increase for Ranabaali were believable enough to spread before Mythri Movie Makers intervened.

In this case, however, the producers say they have made no such application in either state.

That gives Ranabaali a slightly different box-office strategy from films that rely on premium opening-week pricing. Standard rates could potentially make the movie more accessible during the festive period, but the more important point is simpler: its early collections will not be boosted by the specific ticket hike that had been reported.

For box-office comparisons after release, that detail will matter. A large opening generated at normal ticket rates can reflect a different level of footfall than the same gross earned with substantially higher average ticket prices.

Ranabaali is less than two weeks from release

Directed by Rahul Sankrityan, Ranabaali is a period action drama set against the backdrop of the Madras Famine of 1876–78. Vijay Deverakonda plays the central character, a man from Rayalaseema who rises against oppression, while Rashmika Mandanna stars as his wife, Jayamma.

The movie also brings The Mummy actor Arnold Vosloo into Telugu cinema as Sir Theodore Hector, the English antagonist opposing Vijay’s character. The film is planned as a multilingual theatrical release.

Ranabaali is especially notable for reuniting Vijay and Rashmika on screen after their earlier collaborations, while its large-scale period setting has positioned it as one of Mythri Movie Makers’ major releases of the season.

Promotions are now entering their final stretch ahead of the October 16, 2026 theatrical release.

For audiences in Andhra Pradesh and Telangana, at least one question has now been settled before advance bookings become the bigger story. Whatever demand Ranabaali generates on opening day, Mythri Movie Makers says viewers will not have to pay the rumored ₹50 premium to see it.
