Ektaa Kapoor Reveals Priyadarshan Tweaked ‘Bhooth Bangla’ Script

The Akshay Kumar–Priyadarshan reunion is not just nostalgia — it’s evolving on the go.

During a recent media interaction at a preview event for Bhooth Bangla’s first song, producer Ektaa Kapoor revealed an interesting behind-the-scenes detail: director Priyadarshan made changes to the script after Akshay Kumar officially joined the film.

And the turnaround? Just three days.

How Akshay Said Yes

According to Ektaa, when the script of Bhooth Bangla was first narrated to Akshay Kumar, the actor immediately agreed to be part of the project.

But there was one more key piece to the puzzle — Priyadarshan directing it.

When Ektaa told Akshay that they wanted Priyadarshan to helm the film, the actor was reportedly thrilled. The duo has delivered some of Bollywood’s most iconic comedies together, including Hera Pheri and Bhool Bhulaiyaa, making their reunion a major talking point.

However, when the script reached Priyadarshan, he appreciated the concept but requested a few creative changes. Ektaa and her team agreed — and once that happened, the entire deal was locked within three days.

That kind of speed is rare in the industry.

What We Know About ‘Bhooth Bangla’

While the makers have kept the storyline tightly under wraps, the film is described as a horror-comedy set in a haunted mansion filled with supernatural chaos, mystery, and classic confusion.

Priyadarshan had previously shared that the film draws inspiration from Indian mythology and black magic, weaving elements from ancient texts like the Vedas and the Mahabharata into its narrative. The goal? To give the horror-comedy genre a rooted, culturally rich spin.

The film was officially announced in September 2024 with a motion poster and has since been shot across multiple locations — including London, Jaipur, Kochi, Mumbai, Chennai, and Hyderabad.

First Song Teased

The makers recently unveiled the teaser of the first track, Ram Ji Aake Bhala Karenge.

The song is composed by Pritam, with lyrics by Kumaar. It has been sung by Dev Arijit and features a rap segment written and performed by Mellow D.

The teaser, shared on social media with the caption “Main apne bhooths ke saath ready hoon… are you?”, has already sparked curiosity among fans waiting for the film’s musical vibe.

Star-Studded Ensemble

Presented by Balaji Motion Pictures in association with Cape of Good Films, the film is jointly produced by Akshay Kumar, Shobha Kapoor, and Ektaa R Kapoor.

Apart from Akshay, the cast includes Wamiqa Gabbi, Paresh Rawal, Tabu, and Rajpal Yadav — a lineup that practically guarantees comic fireworks.

Interestingly, Bhooth Bangla isn’t the only collaboration brewing between Akshay and Priyadarshan. The duo is also working on Hera Pheri 3 and another project titled Haiwaan, reportedly alongside Saif Ali Khan.

Release Date Locked

The horror-comedy is slated for a theatrical release on April 10.

With script tweaks already made post-casting and the creative trio moving at lightning speed, expectations are high that this reunion could deliver something both nostalgic and fresh.

Final Words

When Akshay Kumar and Priyadarshan team up, fans expect laughter. Now, add mythology, black magic, and a haunted mansion into the mix — and Bhooth Bangla suddenly feels even more intriguing.

If the script changes have sharpened the story the way Ektaa hinted, April 10 might just bring back the magic of one of Bollywood’s most loved actor-director duos — with a spooky twist.
