Alia Bhatt is expanding her producer journey with a brand-new romantic comedy. Prime Video has officially greenlit Don’t Be Shy, an original film produced by Alia and her sister Shaheen Bhatt under their banner Eternal Sunshine Productions.
The project marks another female-forward, character-driven story from the Bhatt sisters, continuing their focus on intimate, emotionally grounded storytelling.
What ‘Don’t Be Shy’ Is About
Written and directed by Sreeti Mukerji, Don’t Be Shy is a coming-of-age romantic comedy that revolves around Shyamili “Shy” Das, a 20-year-old who thrives on structure and control. Her neatly organised world begins to spiral when an unexpected turn of events forces her to confront friendship, love, and adulthood head-on.
Sreeti Mukerji has previously worked on the direction teams of major Bollywood films like Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani, Ae Dil Hai Mushkil, and Brahmastra Part One: Shiva, making this project her first full-fledged feature as writer-director.

Announcing the project, Nikhil Madhok, Director and Head of Originals at Prime Video India, praised the film’s warmth and relatability. He highlighted Alia Bhatt’s strong instinct for emotionally rich stories and described Don’t Be Shy as a young-adult narrative rooted in sincerity, humour, and honest characters.
According to Madhok, the film’s female-led perspective and fresh writing were key reasons Prime Video came on board.
