Bhumi Pednekar to Lead T-Series Horror Franchise Jaani Dushman

Bhumi Pednekar is stepping into the horror genre with Jaani Dushman – Darr Ke Aage Maut Hai, a new supernatural thriller from T-Series Films and Almighty Motion Picture. The makers have announced the project as an original theatrical horror franchise, with Bhumi playing the lead in a story set against the backdrop of the United Kingdom.

The film marks a reunion between producer Bhushan Kumar and Prabhleen Sandhu following their collaboration on Made in India – A Titan Story. It also brings together key members of the creative team behind the paranormal thriller series Bhay – The Gaurav Tiwari Mystery, signalling an attempt to build a new horror property for Indian cinema.

Fast & Furious Stunt Expert Peter Pedrero Joins the Film

One of the project’s notable additions is internationally acclaimed action and stunt specialist Peter Pedrero, who has been brought on board as the International Horror Action/Stunt Director. His credits include major productions and franchises such as Fast & Furious, Harry Potter, The Expendables, Game of Thrones and The Conjuring.

Pedrero’s involvement suggests that the film will place considerable emphasis on physical horror, action choreography and practical stunt work. While the makers have not revealed specific sequences or technical details, his experience across action and horror productions gives the project an international dimension.

Director Arshad Syed will helm the film, while Robbie Grewal joins as Creative Producer. The team previously worked together on Bhay – The Gaurav Tiwari Mystery, which explored paranormal investigations and supernatural storytelling.

A Mother-Daughter Story at the Centre

Unlike a horror film built solely around scares, Jaani Dushman is being described as an emotionally driven story centred on a mother-daughter relationship. The narrative will weave supernatural occurrences with buried family secrets, creating a mix of emotional drama, suspense and horror.

The UK setting is expected to provide an atmospheric backdrop for the story, although the makers have not yet disclosed the supporting cast or detailed plot. The first poster hints at a disturbing supernatural presence, but the film’s central mystery remains under wraps.

Bhumi’s casting marks a new genre direction for the actor, who has previously explored socially grounded dramas, thrillers and mainstream entertainers. A horror-franchise lead gives her an opportunity to anchor a story where emotional performance and physical intensity may be equally important.

T-Series Plans a Theatrical Horror Franchise

Presented by Gulshan Kumar and T-Series, Jaani Dushman – Darr Ke Aage Maut Hai is produced by Bhushan Kumar, Krishan Kumar, Prabhleen Sandhu and Ajay Singhal. Shiv Chanana and Sunita Vinod Vyas serve as co-producers.

The film is currently scheduled to arrive in cinemas in 2027, though an exact release date has not been announced. With its combination of a new horror property, an established production banner and an international stunt specialist, the project is positioning itself as a large-scale theatrical genre film.

For Bhumi, the film represents a fresh creative challenge. For T-Series and Almighty Motion Picture, it is an opportunity to develop a horror franchise built around Indian family drama and supernatural storytelling.
