Veteran Bollywood legend Dharmendra has been discharged from Breach Candy Hospital, Mumbai, after spending two days under medical observation. The 89-year-old actor will now continue his recovery at home, according to the doctor overseeing his treatment.
Dharmendra was admitted earlier this week for a round of medical tests. While neither the family nor the hospital disclosed specific details about his condition, close sources confirmed that the actor is “stable and recovering.”
Family Requests Privacy After False Reports
On Tuesday, social media was flooded with baseless rumours claiming Dharmendra had passed away, forcing his family to issue clarifications.
His daughter Esha Deol took to Instagram to shut down the fake reports, writing:
“The media seems to be in overdrive and spreading false news. My father is stable and recovering. We request everyone to give our family privacy. Thank you for the prayers for papa’s speedy recovery.”
Dharmendra’s wife, actor and politician Hema Malini, also expressed outrage over the misinformation in a post on X (formerly Twitter):
“What is happening is unforgivable! How can responsible channels spread false news about a person who is responding to treatment and is recovering? This is extremely disrespectful and irresponsible. Please give due respect to the family and its need for privacy.”
Bollywood Stars Visit the Veteran Actor
Following the reports, several industry heavyweights — including Shah Rukh Khan, Aamir Khan, and Salman Khan — were seen visiting Dharmendra at the hospital to check on his health and offer support to the Deol family.
The He-Man of Bollywood
With a career spanning over six decades and more than 300 films, Dharmendra remains one of Hindi cinema’s most beloved figures. Known fondly as Bollywood’s “He-Man,” he has delivered timeless performances in classics such as Phool Aur Patthar, Seeta Aur Geeta, Jugnu, Yaadon Ki Baaraat, Sholay, Pratiggya, and Dharam Veer, among many others.
Most recently, he appeared in Karan Johar’s Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani (2023) alongside Ranveer Singh and Alia Bhatt, where he played a memorable supporting role that reminded audiences why he remains an icon of Indian cinema.
As the legendary actor recuperates at home, fans across the country continue to send prayers and good wishes for his speedy recovery.
