Jessica Lange has criticised FX for failing to provide transportation after late-night American Horror Story shoots, revealing that she and her co-stars had to drive themselves home during production. The Oscar-winning actress recalled the experience at PaleyFest in New York on October 8, 2026, while promoting the show’s 13th season.
The 77-year-old actress was discussing her experiences filming American Horror Story: Coven in New Orleans when she took aim at the network.
“We had to drive ourselves,” Lange said, adding that the situation remained a source of frustration.
She described returning home around 4 or 5 in the morning, navigating the French Quarter after exhausting overnight shoots.
Lange blamed the arrangement on FX being “too f—ing cheap” to provide cars for the cast.
Sarah Paulson Reacts to Jessica Lange’s FX Criticism
Sarah Paulson, who joined Lange during the panel discussion, appeared to recognise the experience immediately.
“Oh, yeah!” Paulson exclaimed before laughing at her co-star’s blunt remarks.
Although the exchange drew laughter from the audience, Lange emphasised that the transportation issue remained a genuine grievance.
Her account also raises a broader question about working conditions on television productions, particularly when actors finish demanding shoots in the early morning.
Entertainment Weekly reported that it had contacted FX for comment. No response was included in its report.
Jessica Lange Returns for American Horror Story Season 13
Despite her criticism, Lange has reunited with the franchise after an eight-year absence.
American Horror Story: Season 13 brings back several familiar faces, including Paulson, Evan Peters, Emma Roberts and Gabourey Sidibe.
Lange agreed to return after creator Ryan Murphy offered her the opportunity to revisit her original characters.
These include Constance Langdon from Murder House, Sister Jude Martin from Asylum, Fiona Goode from Coven and Elsa Mars from Freak Show.
The actress previously explained that revisiting all four characters was an important condition of her comeback.
While Lange clearly remembers the frustrations of filming Coven, her return also reflects the lasting creative connection she shares with the horror anthology.
American Horror Story: Season 13 is currently airing on FX.
