The red swimsuits and slow-motion beach runs are officially back! Fox has released the first full-length trailer for its upcoming Baywatch revival, introducing a new generation of lifeguards led by Arrow star Stephen Amell. Unveiled on October 13, 2026, the action-packed preview combines dangerous ocean rescues, complicated relationships and plenty of nostalgia for the original series.
Unlike the 2017 movie starring Dwayne Johnson and Zac Efron, the new television series continues the original show’s story, with Amell portraying Hobie Buchannon, the grown-up son of David Hasselhoff’s iconic character Mitch Buchannon.
Baywatch Trailer Opens With a Dangerous Rescue
The trailer wastes little time introducing the dangers of lifeguarding. It opens with a dramatic accident involving an aircraft and parasailers, sending the Baywatch team racing into the ocean.
Amell’s Hobie leads the rescue operation, bringing back the dramatic action sequences that made the original series famous.
However, the biggest challenge facing Hobie might not come from the water.
His life takes an unexpected turn when Charlie Vale, played by Jessica Belkin, arrives claiming to be his daughter. Charlie wants to become a lifeguard herself, but Hobie is hesitant to see her pursue such a dangerous profession.
Their relationship establishes a family storyline connecting the revival to its predecessor.
Baywatch Reboot Cast Includes Familiar Faces
The new cast includes Shay Mitchell as Trina, Hassie Harrison as Nat, Brooks Nader as Selene, Noah Beck as Luke and Thaddeus LaGrone as Brad.
Former gymnast and social media personality Olivia “Livvy” Dunne also joins the series as Grace, marking her acting debut.
Longtime viewers have another reason to be interested: David Chokachi is returning as Cody Madison, a character he portrayed in the original series.
Erika Eleniak will also reprise her role as Shauni McClain in a guest appearance.
The combination of returning characters and new performers suggests that Fox is attempting to preserve the original show’s identity while introducing fresh relationships.
When Will the New Baywatch Series Premiere?
The 12-episode Baywatch revival is scheduled to premiere on Fox in January 2027, although an exact date has not been announced.
Internationally, the series will stream on Sky and NOW in the United Kingdom and Ireland, while Australian audiences can watch it on Stan.
Matt Nix, known for Burn Notice, serves as showrunner, while Charlie’s Angels filmmaker McG directs the premiere episode.
The original Baywatch debuted in 1989 and became a worldwide television phenomenon during the 1990s.
With its familiar beach setting, returning characters and new family drama, the revival is clearly embracing that legacy. Whether it can recreate the original’s cultural impact remains to be seen, but the trailer makes one thing certain: the lifeguards are heading back into action.
