Ryan Murphy is back with another unsettling, high-gloss thriller — and this time, it’s taking aim at beauty, obsession, and power. FX has released the first trailer for The Beauty, a dark new series that revolves around a miracle injection promising flawless physical perfection… at a horrifying cost.

Set to premiere on January 21, The Beauty blends body horror, fashion culture, and conspiracy into one twisted package.

Ashton Kutcher’s Billionaire With a God Complex

At the centre of the chaos is Ashton Kutcher, playing a mysterious tech billionaire who introduces a drug called The Beauty to the fashion world. Marketed as a revolutionary injection that makes users “effortlessly beautiful,” the product turns supermodels into walking advertisements — until things start going wrong.

In one striking moment from the trailer, Kutcher’s character smugly declares he’s the perfect face of his own creation. But cracks appear fast. Users begin suffering violent breakdowns, grotesque physical consequences, and even death.

Bella Hadid, Supermodels, and a Body Horror Spiral

Bella Hadid plays a supermodel whose transformation goes terribly wrong. After catching her reflection in a mirror, her character snaps, unleashing brutal violence — a signal that the drug’s effects are far from cosmetic.

As more models die under disturbing circumstances, it becomes clear that The Beauty behaves less like medicine and more like a fast-spreading disease, hinted to be sexually transmitted.

FBI, Paris, and a Corporate Nightmare

Enter Evan Peters and Rebecca Hall as FBI agents investigating the growing body count. Their search leads them to Paris and straight to Kutcher’s shadowy corporation. Defending his creation, Kutcher chillingly describes it as “an STD people will actually want.”

To protect his empire, he unleashes a deadly enforcer known as The Assassin, played by Anthony Ramos, whose character openly compares the drug to a modern-day fountain of youth — with inevitable consequences.

As the threat spirals out of control, Kutcher’s character scrambles to find an antidote before the product goes fully public, barking orders to scientists and demanding they “fix the bug.”

A Massive Ensemble Cast

Alongside the leads, The Beauty boasts an enormous ensemble, including Jeremy Pope, with guest appearances from Isabella Rossellini, Billy Eichner, Ben Platt, Nicola Peltz Beckham, Meghan Trainor, Vincent D’Onofrio, John Carroll Lynch, and many more.

The series is created and written by Ryan Murphy and Matthew Hodgson, based on the comic book by Jeremy Haun and Jason A. Hurley.

Release Details

The Beauty premieres with three episodes on January 21, airing on FX and Hulu, followed by weekly releases across its 11-episode season.

Final Words

With The Beauty, Ryan Murphy taps into modern anxieties around perfection, image, and control — wrapping them in glossy visuals and brutal horror. If the trailer is any indication, this isn’t just a thriller about beauty… it’s about what happens when the pursuit of perfection turns monstrous.
