Millie Bobby Brown may already be one of the biggest young stars in Hollywood, but she isn’t done chasing iconic roles. After winning audiences over as Eleven in Stranger Things and leading Netflix’s Enola Holmes franchise, the 22-year-old actor has now revealed another famous character she’d happily take on. And it’s one that has traditionally belonged to men for more than six decades.
While promoting Enola Holmes 3, Millie was asked about the ongoing search for the next James Bond, especially since her co-star Louis Partridge has recently been linked to speculation surrounding the role. Instead of avoiding the topic, the actor responded with humour while making it clear she’d like to throw her own name into the conversation.
Millie Bobby Brown Jokes About Joining The James Bond Race
Speaking during a recent interview, Millie laughed off the growing speculation around the future of the legendary spy franchise before offering her own unexpected pitch.
“I think I should be the next James Bond, why am I not in that running? Can we get me in that running?”
Although she jokingly volunteered herself for the role, Millie also made it clear that she’s rooting for Louis Partridge regardless of where the casting process goes. She said she isn’t interested in turning it into a competition and believes the filmmakers will ultimately choose the actor who best fits the character.
Talking about her Enola Holmes co-star, she added, “I don’t like all the competition and the speculation. All that matters is that he’s my James Bond and whatever it will be, what’s great is that they’ll find the person for it, whoever that may be. But Tewkesbury is Louis, hands down. There’s no other person that could ever play him.”
The search for the next James Bond has remained one of Hollywood’s biggest talking points since Daniel Craig stepped away from the role after No Time to Die. While several actors continue to be linked with the franchise, no official casting announcement has been made.
Returning To Enola Holmes Still Feels Exciting
Alongside the Bond discussion, Millie also reflected on returning as Enola Holmes for a third film. She admitted the character continues to excite her because every instalment allows Enola to grow while exploring new parts of her personality. The actor also praised her working relationship with Louis Partridge, saying their on-screen chemistry continues to evolve with each chapter.
“She’s just a really fun character to play. I have a lot of fun with the script, with the lines and I love working with Louis. Enola and Tewksebery’s relationship is blossoming and growing in this film, and I was just ready to jump into it full force. It’s very exciting that Netflix wants to continue with the franchise.”
When asked whether revisiting an established character becomes more difficult over time because of fan expectations, Millie said the experience actually becomes more comfortable. While she naturally hopes audiences continue enjoying Enola’s journey, she believes every new film simply gives her another opportunity to build on a character she already understands well.
“It gets easier. Of course there is always the pressure of hope that the audience is enjoying the evolution of this character that I’m building, but I don’t necessarily think it gets harder.”
Millie Wants To Keep Telling Stories About Strong Women
Over the last few years, Millie Bobby Brown has become closely associated with determined female protagonists who challenge expectations. Whether it’s Eleven fighting supernatural threats or Enola Holmes solving mysteries in an era where women were often underestimated, the actor says those stories are exactly the kind she wants to continue telling.
Explaining the type of roles that inspire her, Millie shared, “That’s what I believe in, bringing more women to screen, women that are capable and heroes in their own story. It’s very impactful and meaningful, and I am very excited to continue on bringing characters like that to screen that show range and slowly, leaving the action world, entering into the romance world and then more to come.”
With Enola Holmes 3 continuing the popular Netflix franchise and several future projects already in development, Millie Bobby Brown appears ready to explore new genres while holding on to the strong female characters that have defined much of her career. Whether or not her playful James Bond wish ever becomes reality, one thing is certain — she’s aiming for even bigger challenges in the years ahead.
