Vijay Deverakonda and Rashmika Mandanna’s Ranabaali has opened to a modest response at the worldwide box office. Directed by Rahul Sankrityan, the historical action drama collected an estimated ₹16.50 crore globally on its first day, including ₹9.25 crore net in India.
Released on October 16, 2026, the film marks Vijay and Rashmika’s return to the big screen together after Dear Comrade. Despite considerable anticipation, the opening falls below Vijay’s previous major releases, including Kingdom and Liger.
The film also faces significant competition from Rajinikanth’s Jailer 2, which arrived in theatres a day earlier.
Ranabaali Day 1 Worldwide Box Office Collection
According to trade estimates reported by The Indian Express, Ranabaali registered the following opening-day collections:
| Box Office Collection | Day 1 Earnings |
|---|---|
| India net | ₹9.25 crore |
| India gross | ₹10.75 crore |
| Overseas gross | ₹5.75 crore |
| Worldwide gross | ₹16.50 crore |
The film recorded approximately 57% occupancy across 2,515 screenings in India.
However, published trade estimates differ slightly. Sacnilk’s current consolidated tracker places the overseas collection at ₹5.40 crore and worldwide earnings at ₹16.15 crore. Both totals remain preliminary.
Ranabaali Opens Below Kingdom and Liger
The ₹9.25 crore domestic opening places Ranabaali behind Vijay Deverakonda’s Kingdom, which collected approximately ₹18 crore net on its first day.
His Bollywood debut Liger also recorded a higher opening of ₹16 crore net in India, while The Family Star started at ₹5.75 crore.
One important difference is theatrical availability.
Kingdom reportedly received 4,236 shows on its opening day, compared with 2,515 for Ranabaali. This makes a direct comparison less straightforward.
Meanwhile, Jailer 2 earned ₹35.60 crore net in India on Friday, dominating the box office with a considerably larger number of screenings.
Although Ranabaali recorded stronger occupancy, its limited show count restricted its overall earning potential.
Can Ranabaali Recover Over Its Opening Weekend?
Saturday’s early trends suggest that the film continues attracting audiences, although its complete Day 2 collection is not yet available.
Sacnilk’s live tracker reported ₹3.25 crore India net by 3:03 PM IST on October 17. This is a partial-day estimate and cannot be compared directly with Friday’s completed collection.
The historical drama has also received mixed reviews, with critics appreciating the lead performances and production design while questioning its pacing and excessive violence.
With Sunday still ahead, Ranabaali needs strong weekend growth to establish momentum.
The bigger challenge will be sustaining collections after the opening weekend, particularly while competing with Jailer 2 for theatrical screens.
