Cocktail 2 Day 7 Box Office Crosses ₹70 Crore in India

Maddock Films

Cocktail 2 has wrapped up its first week at the Indian box office with a respectable total, even though its weekday run has started showing signs of slowing down. Starring Shahid Kapoor, Rashmika Mandanna and Kriti Sanon, the romantic drama has managed to stay ahead of several recent Bollywood releases despite receiving mixed reactions from critics and audiences. The film has already crossed the ₹70 crore mark in India, giving the makers another commercial success under Maddock Films. While Thursday collections slipped compared to the previous day, the film still remains on course for another strong weekend if it manages to hold well on Friday.

Released on June 19, the Homi Adajania directorial benefited from solid weekend footfalls before settling into a steady weekday pattern. Romantic dramas usually rely heavily on positive word of mouth after their opening weekend, and Cocktail 2 appears to be following that trend. Although occupancy has softened in several centres, multiplex audiences continue contributing to the film’s overall business.

Cocktail 2 box office collection day 7

According to trade estimates from Sacnilk, Cocktail 2 collected ₹4.15 crore net in India on its seventh day, Thursday. The latest earnings pushed the film’s domestic total to ₹70.40 crore after completing its first week in theatres. The Thursday figure is lower than Wednesday’s ₹5.25 crore, indicating the expected weekday decline before the second weekend begins. Even so, the drop is not alarming, and the film has maintained a stable run compared to many recent Hindi releases.

The film opened with ₹13.50 crore on its first day before witnessing healthy growth over the weekend. Saturday contributed ₹16.25 crore, while Sunday turned out to be the biggest day with ₹17.75 crore. Collections naturally dipped on Monday to ₹6.75 crore, but the film remained steady on Tuesday by earning the same amount. That consistency helped Cocktail 2 comfortably cross the ₹70 crore milestone within seven days, putting it in a strong position heading into its second weekend.

Trade experts will now closely watch Friday’s performance because it often determines whether a film can enjoy another weekend boost. If occupancy improves over Saturday and Sunday, Cocktail 2 could move significantly closer to the ₹85 crore mark before the arrival of fresh competition. Much will depend on audience retention and whether family viewers continue choosing the film during the weekend.

Shahid Kapoor adds another successful box office performer

With its current total, Cocktail 2 has already surpassed the lifetime domestic earnings of Shahid Kapoor’s action thriller Deva, which finished its theatrical run with ₹34.37 crore in India. The romantic drama is also within touching distance of overtaking the lifetime collection of O’Romeo, which earned ₹72.99 crore. Considering the current pace, that milestone could be crossed very early in the film’s second weekend.

The next major target for the film is Teri Baaton Mein Aisa Uljha Jiya, the romantic comedy starring Shahid Kapoor and Kriti Sanon, which collected ₹85.16 crore during its theatrical run. Crossing that number would make Cocktail 2 one of Shahid’s stronger-performing films in recent years. The actor has been balancing romance and action projects over the last few years, and this film further strengthens his box office comeback.

For Rashmika Mandanna, the film continues another successful phase following her recent commercial hits across multiple languages. Kriti Sanon also adds another notable performer to her filmography, further reinforcing her popularity in mainstream Bollywood. The trio’s chemistry has been one of the talking points among audiences, helping the film maintain interest beyond its opening weekend.

Story, cast and the message behind the film

Directed by Homi Adajania, Cocktail 2 is a spiritual successor to the 2012 film Cocktail, although it tells a completely new story with a fresh set of characters. The screenplay has been co-written by Luv Ranjan and Tarun Jain, while the film has been produced by Dinesh Vijan, Luv Ranjan and Ankur Garg under Maddock Films and Luv Films. Unlike the original starring Saif Ali Khan, Deepika Padukone and Diana Penty, the sequel explores modern relationships through a different emotional lens while retaining the franchise’s blend of romance, humour and drama.

The story follows college sweethearts Kunal, played by Shahid Kapoor, and Diya, portrayed by Rashmika Mandanna, who are deeply in love but remain uncertain about marriage. Their vacation in Sicily takes an unexpected turn after they reunite with Diya’s close friend Ally, played by Kriti Sanon. What begins as a playful attempt to test the strength of their relationship slowly develops into a far more complicated emotional situation. The scenic Italian backdrop and the evolving love triangle form the emotional core of the film.

Before the release, Kriti Sanon spoke about the film’s central theme during a conversation with ANI. She said, “There is a message in this film. It is a very relevant message. Nowadays, the type of relationships, situationship and questions related to commitment are going on, there is a very relevant and rooted message at the end of the movie,” while talking about its story.

As Cocktail 2 heads into its second weekend, all eyes will be on whether positive audience support can help it maintain momentum. The first-week total has already placed the film among the better-performing Bollywood releases of the season, and another strong weekend could push it much closer to its next major box office milestone.
