A week into its theatrical run, Ikkis is finding it difficult to gain momentum at the box office. Despite strong pre-release curiosity and the promise of a serious war drama backed by a respected filmmaker, the film has failed to translate expectations into footfalls. Seven days after release, the Agastya Nanda–led film is still short of the ₹25 crore milestone — a worrying sign for a big-screen debut carrying both legacy and prestige.
High Expectations, Low Turnout
Ikkis arrived in cinemas on January 1, 2026, with two major talking points working in its favour. One, it marked the theatrical debut of Agastya Nanda. Two, it was directed by Sriram Raghavan, a filmmaker known for gripping, tightly written narratives.
However, audience response hasn’t matched the initial curiosity. According to industry tracking data, the film collected ₹1.15 crore on Day 7, bringing its total seven-day collection to ₹24.25 crore.
Day-Wise Box Office Breakdown (Week 1)
The film opened on a decent note but saw a sharp drop soon after:
- Day 1 (Thursday): ₹7 crore
- Day 2 (Friday): ₹3.5 crore
- Day 3 (Saturday): ₹4.65 crore
- Day 4 (Sunday): ₹5 crore
- Day 5 (Monday): ₹1.35 crore
- Day 6 (Tuesday): ₹1.6 crore
- Day 7 (Wednesday): ₹1.15 crore
The trend clearly shows that weekday support has been weak, with limited recovery after the opening weekend.
How Ikkis Fared Against Recent Releases
When placed alongside other January releases, Ikkis struggles to hold ground. Compared to Tu Meri Main Tera Main Tera Tu Meri, the difference is noticeable. The Kartik Aaryan–Ananya Panday starrer collected ₹28.85 crore in its first seven days, comfortably staying ahead of the war drama.
The contrast becomes even sharper when measured against the current box office leader, Dhurandhar. While Ikkis earned just over ₹1 crore on Day 7, Dhurandhar — on its Day 34 — added ₹4.25 crore, highlighting the massive gap in audience pull.
Second Week Update Offers Little Relief
The situation hasn’t improved much in the second week either. On Day 14 (January 7, 2026), Ikkis reportedly earned only ₹0.25 crore, taking its total box office collection to ₹32.8 crore. With fresh releases entering cinemas and limited word-of-mouth support, the film’s theatrical run appears to be nearing its end.
About the Film and Its Legacy Angle
Directed by Sriram Raghavan, Ikkis is based on the life of Second Lieutenant Arun Khetarpal, a Param Vir Chakra awardee who was martyred during the India–Pakistan War of 1971. The film also features a strong supporting cast including Dharmendra — in what is being billed as his final screen appearance — along with Jaideep Ahlawat, Sikander Kher, Simar Bhatia, and Vivaan Shah.
While the subject matter carries emotional weight and national significance, audiences appear to have remained distant, possibly due to muted promotion or limited mass appeal.
Final Words
Ikkis had all the ingredients for a solid theatrical run — a powerful real-life story, a respected director, and a much-talked-about debut. Unfortunately, box office numbers suggest the film hasn’t connected strongly enough with audiences. As it stands, Ikkis looks set to wrap up as a modest performer rather than the breakout debut many had hoped for.
