Yash has confirmed that Nitesh Tiwari’s Ramayana carries a massive ₹4,000 crore combined budget for both instalments, clarifying that the figure does not represent the production cost of the first film alone.
Speaking at the film’s trailer launch in Bengaluru on October 15, the actor, who plays Ravana and also serves as a co-producer, defended producer Namit Malhotra against criticism surrounding the project’s enormous investment.
Yash Explains Ramayana’s ₹4,000 Crore Budget
Addressing the controversy, Yash explained why Indian filmmakers should confidently showcase their investments to international audiences.
“We need to showcase our country and what we are capable of,” he said.
The actor clarified that the ₹4,000 crore figure covers both films, including post-production, international distribution and promotional expenses.
His remarks underline the filmmakers’ ambition to position Ramayana as a major global cinematic event rather than merely a domestic blockbuster.
Yash Urges Fans to Support Ramayana With Pride
Yash also encouraged audiences to move beyond regional divisions and support ambitious Indian productions.
“The figure he quoted is the collective budget,” he reiterated, urging viewers to focus on making the film successful.
The actor thanked his Karnataka fans for their continued support and expressed confidence that Ramayana would give them something to celebrate proudly.
Directed by Nitesh Tiwari, the mythological epic stars Ranbir Kapoor as Rama, Sai Pallavi as Sita and Yash as Ravana, alongside Sunny Deol as Hanuman.
Ramayana: Rise of a Legend releases worldwide on November 5, 2026, with its second instalment planned for Diwali 2027.
The enormous investment makes the two-part adaptation one of Indian cinema’s most ambitious productions, although its commercial success will ultimately depend on audience reception.
