Nitesh Tiwari’s Ramayana: Rise of a Legend is preparing to bring its grand mythological visuals to cinema screens ahead of the film’s release. According to Mid-day, the 3D trailer has received clearance from the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) and is expected to begin playing in theatres next week.
The reported approval, dated October 15, covers a 2-minute-26-second trailer. The development comes just days after the film launched its second international trailer, featuring Ranbir Kapoor as Rama and Yash as Ravana.
Why Ramayana’s 3D Trailer Is Important
The theatrical trailer rollout is intended to give audiences an early experience of the film’s visual scale, particularly its elaborate environments, supernatural sequences and large-scale battles.
IMAX is also expected to play an important role in the production’s international release strategy.
Unlike watching footage on a smartphone, a 3D theatrical presentation allows audiences to experience the stereoscopic depth and immersive presentation being developed for the film.
The makers are reportedly targeting approximately 9,000 screens in India and more than 50,000 internationally, although these remain proposed figures rather than confirmed bookings.
When Will Ramayana Release in Theatres?
Produced by Namit Malhotra, Ramayana stars Ranbir Kapoor, Sai Pallavi and Yash, alongside Ravie Dubey as Lakshman and Sunny Deol as Hanuman.
The film features music by A.R. Rahman and Hans Zimmer, with visual effects handled by DNEG.
Ramayana: Rise of a Legend releases worldwide on November 5, 2026, while its second instalment is planned for Diwali 2027.
Importantly, clearance of the promotional trailer does not mean the complete film has received its Indian certification.
An exact date for the 3D trailer’s first theatrical screening has not yet been announced.
