Olivia Rodrigo and Chappell Roan are finally joining forces for an official collaboration! The two Grammy-winning singers have announced a remix of Rodrigo’s song Expectations, accompanied by a brand-new music video featuring both artists. The track and video will arrive on October 15, 2026, bringing together two of pop music’s most recognisable voices.
Rodrigo confirmed the collaboration on Instagram on October 13, sharing artwork featuring the singers posing on a retro convertible in colourful, 1980s-inspired outfits.
The announcement followed a playful audio teaser featuring Roan saying, “Ooh, Olivia does remixes now!”
Why the Expectations Remix Is Special
Expectations originally appeared on Rodrigo’s third studio album, You Seem Pretty Sad for a Girl So in Love, released in June 2026.
The album debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 with 485,000 equivalent album units during its opening week.
The upcoming remix marks Chappell Roan’s first officially credited guest feature, making it an important milestone in her recording career.
However, the two artists have worked together before. Roan previously contributed background vocals to Rodrigo’s recordings, while both have maintained a close creative relationship with producer Daniel Nigro.
Nigro has also produced the new remix.
Expectations Music Video and Release Date
The accompanying music video is directed by Bardia Zeinali, whose previous work includes projects involving Sabrina Carpenter and KATSEYE.
Although the promotional artwork suggests a colourful retro aesthetic, the complete video’s storyline remains under wraps.
Rodrigo and Roan’s friendship stretches back several years. Roan supported Rodrigo during her GUTS World Tour and performed at her Daisy Chain Fields festival in August 2026.
The remix and music video will premiere on October 15 at 5 PM Pacific Time, corresponding to October 16 at 5:30 AM IST.
Fans can also purchase limited-edition 7-inch vinyl records, CDs and cassettes.
While the collaboration celebrates their shared musical history, it also gives Rodrigo’s latest album another major moment in the spotlight.
