Kashmera Shah has firmly backed Sunita Ahuja as the increasingly personal dispute surrounding Govinda and his Roopa co-star Komal Rani Swarnkar spills further into the family.
In a strongly worded Instagram post on September 27, Kashmera questioned how a professional co-star could know such intimate details about another actor’s personal life and directly expressed her support for Sunita. The post came after Komal made a series of serious, unverified allegations about Govinda’s wife, including a claim that she had tried to harm her husband.
Kashmera wrote that after around 30 years and 50 films, none of her co-stars had known the details of her private feelings in the way Komal appeared to suggest she knew Govinda’s.
She then added: “This is the first time we are called ‘murderers’.”
Kashmera says she will stand by Sunita
Kashmera did not name Komal directly in her post, but the timing and wording made clear that she was responding to the recent Instagram Stories surrounding Govinda and Sunita.
After describing herself as someone who married into a family of strong women, Kashmera said women are often called rude, dominating or selfish when they protect their families. She ended the message by telling Sunita, “I will always stand by you.”
That support is particularly notable because Kashmera and Sunita have had a complicated relationship of their own.
Earlier this year, the two publicly reconciled after a family rift that had lasted roughly 14 years. Kashmera and husband Krushna Abhishek apologised to Sunita during Laughter Chefs, with the reunion bringing an end to years of very public tension between the two sides of Govinda’s family.
So Kashmera’s latest statement is not simply another relative stepping into the controversy. It comes only months after she and Sunita repaired a relationship that had been strained for more than a decade.
Komal’s claims remain allegations
The latest escalation began after Komal posted that nobody could be a “homebreaker” in an “already broken house.” She also made much more serious accusations about an unnamed wife allegedly trying to harm her husband and mentally harassing him. Multiple reports interpreted the post as being directed at Sunita in light of the ongoing public dispute.
Those allegations have not been independently substantiated, and they should not be treated as established facts.
The dating speculation involving Govinda and Komal is also still unconfirmed. The pair were recently seen together during a visit to Lalbaugcha Raja, but Govinda has maintained that their association is connected to their upcoming film Roopa. He has also described the wider controversy around the alleged relationship as an attempt to damage his image and separate him from his family.
Sunita, meanwhile, recently made an emotional public appeal saying that her home was “falling apart” and asking women and younger supporters to stand with her.
What began as speculation about Govinda’s personal life has now become a much wider exchange involving his wife, co-star and extended family.
Kashmera’s position, however, is no longer ambiguous.
After years of friction with Sunita and a reconciliation only months ago, she has chosen to stand publicly beside her as the dispute becomes increasingly serious.
