Anne Hathaway is hiding something, and the new trailer for Amazon MGM’s Verity wants audiences to know that whatever it is, it is far darker than it first appears. Based on Colleen Hoover’s bestselling psychological thriller, the film brings Hathaway, Dakota Johnson and Josh Hartnett together for a story built around secrets, attraction and an unsettling manuscript that may completely change what its characters believe about one another.
The full trailer, released August 11, expands on the earlier teaser while revealing more about the strange circumstances surrounding Verity Crawford. Paramount subsequently released Regretting You, another Hoover adaptation, starring Allison Williams, Mckenna Grace, Dave Franco and Mason Thames. Verity has a different advantage, however. Verity allows her to play a character whose physical condition makes her appear vulnerable while the surrounding clues suggest that vulnerability may be an elaborate illusion.
