Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s long-awaited epic Love And War is inching closer to the finish line, with the filmmaker currently shooting what is believed to be the movie’s final song sequence. After months of production and elaborate schedules, the cast has returned to a specially constructed set in Mumbai for one of the biggest musical moments in the film. Alia Bhatt and Vicky Kaushal were recently spotted during the ongoing shoot, giving fans a fresh glimpse of the much-anticipated project. While excitement around the film continues to grow, the latest schedule also marks one of the final stages before the movie heads into post-production.
The film has remained one of the most closely watched Bollywood productions ever since Bhansali announced the dream collaboration between Alia Bhatt, Ranbir Kapoor and Vicky Kaushal. Alia appeared in a glamorous retro-inspired costume featuring a shimmering golden sequined mini skirt paired with a bright red scarf wrapped around her shoulders. She completed the striking look with matching red boots, giving fans an early hint of the colourful visual style planned for the song sequence. Vicky Kaushal, meanwhile, was seen wearing a black shirt and trousers layered with a grey overcoat, maintaining a sharp and understated appearance.
Interestingly, Ranbir Kapoor was not seen in the photographs despite reports suggesting he is also part of the ongoing song shoot. Since the production remains tightly guarded, it is possible that different portions of the sequence are being filmed separately before eventually coming together in the final edit. Bhansali is known for maintaining strict secrecy around his biggest productions, especially during crucial schedules nearing completion.
Bhansali reportedly planning one of the film’s biggest songs
According to reports, the ongoing musical sequence has been mounted on a massive scale, reflecting Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s signature visual style. The elaborate set has reportedly been built at Mumbai’s Royal Pump Studio, where nearly 200 dancers are expected to appear alongside Alia Bhatt, Ranbir Kapoor and Vicky Kaushal. Reports also suggest that Bhansali personally spent several weeks overseeing the choreography, costume design and production planning before cameras finally rolled on the sequence.
The film itself is reportedly inspired by the emotional dynamics of the 1964 classic Sangam, although Bhansali is expected to present his own interpretation rather than a direct remake. Known for visually rich storytelling in films such as Devdas, Bajirao Mastani, Padmaavat and Gangubai Kathiawadi, the filmmaker has built a reputation for turning song sequences into cinematic spectacles. Production faced tragedy during the recent schedule
The ongoing production schedule was recently overshadowed by a tragic accident on the film’s set. Chandradhari Singh Yadav, a 42-year-old carpenter working on the production, reportedly died after allegedly suffering an electric shock, while several other workers sustained injuries. Following the incident, reports stated that Bhansali Productions offered ₹40 lakh in compensation to the deceased worker’s family after discussions involving the Federation of Western India Cine Employees (FWICE) and FSSAMU.
The accident also prompted further legal developments. AICWA President Suresh Shyamlal Gupta wrote to Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis requesting an FIR against Sanjay Leela Bhansali, the production house and others found responsible following the investigation. The association has sought legal action under provisions related to negligence, culpable homicide and any additional sections that investigators may consider applicable after completing their inquiry.
The organisation also referred to previous accidents that allegedly occurred on earlier Bhansali productions, raising broader concerns regarding safety measures on large film sets. At the time of writing, Sanjay Leela Bhansali and his legal representatives have not publicly responded to the allegations or shared further details regarding the incident. Meanwhile, production on Love And War continues as the film prepares for its scheduled theatrical release on January 21, 2027.
