A fresh controversy has erupted in the Indian music scene after rapper-singer Badshah found himself facing legal trouble over his recently released Haryanvi track “Tateeree.” The song, which dropped earlier this month, has now triggered an FIR and widespread backlash after allegations surfaced that its visuals feature school-uniformed girls dancing inside a Haryana Roadways bus while making objectionable gestures.
As the criticism intensified, the singer publicly addressed the situation and announced that the track would be removed from all platforms.
Singer Issues Public Apology
Badshah, whose real name is Aditya Prateek Singh Sisodia, took to Instagram to share a video message explaining his side of the controversy.
In the clip, the rapper acknowledged that parts of the song’s lyrics and visuals had hurt the sentiments of many people, particularly those from his home state of Haryana. He emphasized that he never intended to offend anyone and highlighted his strong connection to the region.
Calling himself a “proud Haryanvi,” Badshah explained that his cultural identity—from language and food to lifestyle—is deeply rooted in Haryana. According to him, the song was never meant to disrespect women or children.
He also clarified that hip-hop music often uses confrontational lyrics directed toward rivals within the genre, but insisted that such expressions were never aimed at women or minors.
In his message, he offered a heartfelt apology to anyone who felt hurt by the song and asked people to forgive him “as Haryana’s son.” He later confirmed in the caption that the track was being taken down from all platforms.
FIR Registered and Investigation Begins
Despite the apology, the controversy has already moved into legal territory.
According to reports, Haryana Police have registered an FIR against Badshah and have started the process of issuing a lookout notice in connection with the case.
The complaint alleges that the music video depicts girls wearing school uniforms dancing inside a state transport bus while making gestures considered inappropriate. Authorities say the visuals and lyrics together may cross social and moral boundaries.
The Haryana State Commission for Women has also stepped into the matter, taking cognisance of the allegations and issuing a summons to the singer.
Complaints Filed by Social Organizations
The legal complaint was filed by Savita Arya, president of the Panipat-based organization Nari Tu Narayani Utthan Samiti, along with Shiv Kumar, director of the Shiv Aarti India Foundation.
In their submission, the complainants argued that the song contains sexualised references and objectionable language, which they claim objectifies women and minors. They have urged authorities to take strict action against those responsible for creating and distributing the content.
The issue has quickly sparked debate online, with some users criticizing the song’s concept while others arguing that the reaction may be excessive.
About the Song “Tateeree”
“Tateeree” was released on March 1, 2026, as a Haryanvi hip-hop single. The track features Badshah alongside vocalist Simran Jaglan and blends modern rap with regional musical influences.
Badshah wrote the lyrics himself, while music producer Hiten composed and produced the track. The official music video was directed by Mahi Sandhu and Joban Sandhu, both known for their work in Punjabi and regional music videos.
Within days of its release, the song gained significant traction online, going viral across social media and streaming platforms—something that also amplified the controversy surrounding its visuals.
Final Words
Badshah has been one of India’s most commercially successful rap artists for years, known for chart-topping tracks and collaborations across Bollywood and independent music. However, the Tateeree controversy has now placed the spotlight on the growing debate around artistic freedom, cultural sensitivity, and responsibility in music videos.
With the song already being removed and legal proceedings underway, the coming days will determine how the situation unfolds for the rapper and whether the controversy will have a lasting impact on the track’s legacy.
