Mobland Faces Major Shake-Up as Tom Hardy Quietly Exits the Crime Drama

Paramount+

Looks like Tom Hardy is officially done with Mobland, and the situation behind the scenes sounds far more messy than fans probably expected. Even though Paramount+ still hasn’t formally announced a third season, the streaming series has been performing strong enough that another chapter feels almost unavoidable at this point. But now, one of the show’s biggest faces reportedly won’t be returning after tension reportedly built up during production. According to industry sources, Hardy was not invited back following ongoing issues involving executive producer Jez Butterworth, 101 Studios, and others connected to the project.

What makes the whole thing more surprising is that Season 2 had already finished filming quietly back in March, meaning this decision likely happened after a lot of internal conversations behind closed doors. Hardy played Harry Da Souza in the series, a fixer operating inside the dangerous world of the Harrigan crime family. The role became one of the main reasons many viewers checked out the show when it launched on Paramount+ last year. Since the series quickly turned into one of the platform’s biggest titles, many fans assumed Hardy would stay central to the story moving forward.

Behind-The-Scenes Drama Starts Overshadowing the Series Itself

The crime drama was created by Ronan Bennett and featured a heavyweight cast including Pierce Brosnan, Helen Mirren, and Paddy Considine. The story focused on the powerful Harrigan family and their criminal empire, with Hardy’s Harry often caught between loyalty, violence, and survival. Butterworth reportedly co-wrote all ten episodes alongside Bennett, which makes the reported fallout even more complicated considering how creatively involved everybody was behind the camera. At this stage, nobody really knows how the show plans to explain Hardy’s absence if Season 3 moves ahead officially.

This also isn’t the first time Hardy’s name has been tied to difficult on-set stories over the years. During the making of Mad Max: Fury Road, reports of clashes between Hardy and Charlize Theron became famous long before the movie itself released. Director George Miller later admitted there were tense moments during production, while behind-the-scenes accounts described difficult behavior during filming. Even with all that history though, Hardy’s screen presence has always remained a huge draw for audiences, which is why this exit could leave a pretty big hole in Mobland if the series continues without him.
