A potential box-office showdown has quietly been avoided. The makers of Hai Jawani Toh Ishq Hona Hai, starring Varun Dhawan, have officially pushed the film’s release date by a week to steer clear of a clash with Toxic: A Fairy Tale for Grown-Ups.
The announcement came through a statement shared by Tips Films, confirming that the romantic comedy will now arrive in theatres on June 12, instead of its earlier June 5 schedule.
Makers Choose Industry Harmony Over Box Office Clash
In their statement, the producers explained that the decision was taken after reviewing recent developments in the release calendar. While the film had been locked for early June for quite some time, the team felt that shifting the release slightly would be a healthier move for the industry.
The note emphasized that filmmakers supporting each other’s releases ultimately benefits the entire film business. Rather than competing on the same weekend, the team behind the Varun Dhawan starrer decided to give Toxic its own space and bring their film to audiences a week later.
The statement was shared on social media and posted in collaboration with Varun Dhawan and his co-stars.
Toxic’s Delay Changed the Box Office Calendar
The scheduling shuffle began when Yash and the makers of Toxic: A Fairy Tale for Grown-Ups recently announced a major change to their film’s release timeline.
Originally planned for March 19, the action drama was pushed to June 4 due to ongoing uncertainty in parts of the Middle East. The makers explained that the film is designed for a global audience and the geopolitical situation could affect international markets.
Before the delay, Toxic was set to clash with Dhurandhar: The Revenge, starring Ranveer Singh, which is still scheduled for release on March 19.
The reshuffle ended up creating a new potential clash between Toxic and Hai Jawani Toh Ishq Hona Hai, which has now been resolved with the latest date change.
A David Dhawan-Style Comedy Returns
The upcoming romantic comedy is directed by veteran filmmaker David Dhawan, who is known for delivering several popular comedy entertainers over the decades.
Interestingly, the film’s title draws inspiration from the famous dialogue “Hai Jawani Toh Ishq Hona Hai” from the 1999 blockbuster Biwi No.1, which featured Salman Khan, Sushmita Sen, and Karisma Kapoor.
The new film brings together a fresh ensemble cast led by Varun Dhawan, alongside Pooja Hegde and Mrunal Thakur.
Supporting roles include Chunky Panday, Mouni Roy, Rohit Saraf, and Jimmy Sheirgill.
Final Words
Release date reshuffles are nothing new in Bollywood, but the decision to move Hai Jawani Toh Ishq Hona Hai reflects a cooperative approach that filmmakers often advocate for. With the clash now avoided, audiences will get to enjoy both Toxic and Varun Dhawan’s upcoming comedy in separate weekends — giving each film its own moment at the box office.
