Cocktail 2 Day 6 Box Office: Shahid Film Crosses ₹66 Crore

Maddock Films

Shahid Kapoor, Rashmika Mandanna and Kriti Sanon’s romantic drama Cocktail 2 has entered its first weekday slowdown, but the film is still managing to keep a respectable run at the Indian box office. After enjoying a strong opening weekend and a stable Monday and Tuesday, collections dipped slightly on Wednesday. Even with the fall, the movie continues to stay ahead of several recent Bollywood releases and remains one of the better-performing romantic dramas of the year.

The film opened with plenty of curiosity thanks to its star-studded cast and the return of director Homi Adajania to the Cocktail universe. Reviews from critics and audiences have been divided, with many praising the performances and scenic visuals while questioning parts of the screenplay. Even so, audience interest has not disappeared completely, helping the film maintain a decent pace during its first week.

Cocktail 2 Slows on Day 6 but Overall Run Stays Healthy

According to the latest trade estimates from Sacnilk, Cocktail 2 collected around ₹5 crore on its sixth day in India. The figure is lower than Tuesday and Monday, when the film earned ₹6.75 crore on both days. Like many Bollywood releases, a midweek drop was expected after the weekend rush settled down, although the decline appears slightly sharper than some trade watchers had predicted.

Sunday remains the film’s biggest day so far, bringing in an impressive ₹17.75 crore, which played a major role in building its overall total. After six days in theatres, the movie has reportedly reached an India net collection of ₹66 crore, while the India gross stands at ₹76.64 crore. With the weekend still ahead, exhibitors will be hoping for another jump in occupancy that could push the film closer to the next major milestone.

The coming Friday will also be important because fresh releases can affect screen count and audience attention. If Cocktail 2 manages to remain steady through its second weekend, it could comfortably move beyond several recent Bollywood successes and strengthen its theatrical run even further.

Shahid Kapoor’s Latest Film Beats Several Recent Releases

One encouraging sign for the makers is that Cocktail 2 has already overtaken the lifetime collections of a few notable Hindi films released this year. The romantic drama has gone past Shahid Kapoor’s own action thriller Deva, which finished with a lifetime India net collection of ₹34.37 crore. It has also crossed Pati Patni Aur Woh Do, starring Ayushmann Khurrana, which earned ₹51.35 crore, along with Param Sundari, featuring Siddharth Malhotra and Janhvi Kapoor, whose final India net stood at ₹53.07 crore.

Despite these achievements, Cocktail 2 still has another benchmark waiting. The original Cocktail, released in 2012 and starring Saif Ali Khan, Deepika Padukone and Diana Penty, reportedly finished its theatrical run with around ₹71 crore in India. Although the new film is described as a standalone sequel rather than a direct continuation, crossing that number would carry symbolic importance for the franchise.

Romantic dramas have faced a mixed box office journey over the last few years as audiences increasingly lean toward action spectacles and large-scale franchise films. Against that backdrop, Cocktail 2 has managed to attract a steady audience, showing that well-known stars and emotional storytelling can still pull viewers into theatres when marketed effectively.

Sicily Romance, New Characters and Shahid Kapoor’s Statement

Directed by Homi Adajania, Cocktail 2 introduces a fresh set of characters instead of bringing back the leads from the 2012 film. Shahid Kapoor plays Kunal, while Rashmika Mandanna appears as Diya, a couple deeply in love but unsure whether marriage is right for them. Their vacation in the picturesque landscapes of Sicily takes an unexpected turn after meeting Ally, played by Kriti Sanon, whose arrival slowly changes the dynamics of their relationship.

As trust begins to crack, Diya decides to test Kunal’s loyalty by asking Ally to flirt with him. What starts as an emotional experiment gradually develops into a complicated love triangle, forcing every character to confront uncomfortable truths about commitment, insecurity and expectations. The overseas locations and music have received appreciation from many viewers, even among those who found the story uneven.

The film has been produced by Dinesh Vijan, Luv Ranjan, Pramita R. Vijan and Ankur Garg, while Pritam has composed the soundtrack with lyrics largely written by Amitabh Bhattacharya. During the film’s promotions, Shahid Kapoor spoke about the chemistry shared with both of his co-stars.

“What is very nice about this film is that everybody is saying that they love seeing me with Rashmika and Kriti. I believe it is always a huge compliment to all of us that they are not able to decide who they prefer,” Shahid said at a press conference.

With the first week nearing its end, all eyes are now on the second weekend. A strong jump in collections could help Cocktail 2 move closer to the original film’s lifetime earnings and give Bollywood another solid theatrical success in a genre that has struggled to deliver consistent box office numbers in recent years.
