There was a bit of curiosity around Bhooth Bangla before release — mostly because it brings back a combo Bollywood hasn’t seen in years. And now, just three days in, it looks like audiences are actually showing up for it.
After a decent start, the film has picked up strong momentum over the weekend. On day 3, Bhooth Bangla collected around ₹23 crore, which is its biggest single-day number so far. That jump clearly tells one thing — word of mouth is kicking in.
From Decent Opening To Solid Weekend Push
The film didn’t explode on day one, but it didn’t need to.
It opened at ₹12.25 crore, followed by ₹19 crore on day two. Add the ₹3.50 crore from paid previews, and now with Sunday’s ₹23 crore, the total has reached roughly ₹58 crore net in India within just three days.
That’s not just stable — that’s a proper upward trend.
And honestly, for a horror-comedy in today’s crowded box office, that kind of growth matters more than a huge opening.
The Priyadarshan–Akshay Factor Is Still Working
A big reason behind this growth? Nostalgia — and it’s working.
The reunion of Akshay Kumar and Priyadarshan after more than a decade has clearly clicked with audiences. This is the same duo behind films like Hera Pheri, Bhagam Bhag, and Bhool Bhulaiyaa — so expectations were always there.
And from the looks of it, viewers are enjoying that familiar style again. Clean comedy, slightly chaotic storytelling, and characters that don’t take themselves too seriously.
Even Akshay himself called it a “homecoming” moment — and that vibe is showing on screen too.
What The Film Is About (And Why It’s Clicking)
The story follows Arjun, played by Akshay, who returns to India from London after his sister inherits a palace. Sounds simple — until the village legend kicks in.
Apparently, no marriages happen there because a mysterious entity called Vadhusur abducts brides.
It’s that mix of horror setup and comedy treatment that gives the film its identity. Not entirely scary, not entirely slapstick — but something in between that families can watch together.
Alongside Akshay, the film features Tabu, Wamiqa Gabbi, Rajpal Yadav, and Jisshu Sengupta, all adding to the film’s ensemble feel.
Box Office Clash: Quietly Challenging Dhurandhar 2
What makes this run more interesting is its timing.
Bhooth Bangla is competing directly with Dhurandhar 2: The Revenge, which is already deep into its theatrical run. And while Dhurandhar 2 still holds the bigger total, its daily collections have slowed.
That’s where Bhooth Bangla is finding its space — fresh release advantage, growing footfall, and a genre that appeals to a wider weekend crowd.
What’s Working… And What Feels Familiar
The biggest win for the film is its accessibility. It doesn’t try to be too smart or too dark. It sticks to simple storytelling, humour, and familiar setups — and that’s exactly what many viewers want right now.
But at the same time, some parts feel a bit too familiar. If you’ve watched Priyadarshan’s older films, you might notice similar patterns, similar pacing, even similar character beats.
Still, for a weekend entertainer, that familiarity isn’t hurting much — at least not yet.
Where It Goes From Here
The real test starts now.
Weekdays will decide how strong this run actually is. If the film manages to hold even decent numbers from Monday onward, it could turn into a proper hit.
Right now though, the trend is clearly in its favour.
A steady start, a strong jump, and audience interest growing — Bhooth Bangla has managed to land on its feet.
