Huma Qureshi is having a strong year on OTT with back-to-back performances in Delhi Crime Season 3 and Maharani Season 4, both of which earned her wide appreciation. But beyond her screen roles, the actor has been using her platform to talk about issues that matter to her. In a recent conversation on The Male Feminist, Huma dived into her journey, the pressures placed on women in the industry, and the alarming rise of online harassment.
Huma Calls Out Disgusting Online Comments
During the discussion, Huma shared that the kind of comments women receive on social media often cross all lines of decency.
“There are comments like, ‘post a picture in a bikini,’ and I’m like, ‘kar kya rahe ho boss?’” she said, clearly frustrated. She added that harassment should not be treated differently just because it happens online.
“In my opinion, the punishment for teasing a girl on the road and harassing her online should be the same,” she said, explaining that the impact and violation feel no different to the victim.
“Please tippani dena band kar dijiye” — Her Message to Trolls
Huma went on to address the deeper issue of unsolicited judgments about women’s lives.
She said that men who slide into DMs with inappropriate messages or send explicit pictures should face consequences no different from those who behave badly in public spaces.
“All I want to say is please stop commenting on how a woman dresses, her makeup, her lifestyle, what time she returns home, how much she weighs,” she added. Her message was direct, relatable, and echoed by countless women who experience similar online behaviour.
A Career Defined by Strong Performances
Huma’s strong stance comes at a time when she’s receiving praise for portraying layered, intense characters. She first gained major recognition with Anurag Kashyap’s Gangs of Wasseypur: Part 2, and has since taken on memorable roles across film and OTT.
This year, she returned as Rani Bharti in Maharani Season 4 and delivered a compelling performance as the antagonist in Netflix’s Delhi Crime 3. She also played a police officer in Bayan, a film that premiered at the Toronto International Film Festival. On the Bollywood front, she appeared in Jolly LLB 3.
Final Words
With her recent performances and her open stance on important conversations, Huma continues to carve her space as one of the most fearless voices in the industry. Whether onscreen or off, she isn’t afraid to say what needs to be said — and audiences are applauding her both for her craft and her courage.
