The highly publicized dispute between actress Celina Jaitly and her estranged husband Peter Haag has entered another complicated chapter. Just weeks after reports emerged about an FIR being filed against Peter in Mumbai, fresh legal action has now been initiated from the other side. Representatives of Peter Haag and his family have issued formal legal notices accusing the actress of spreading false and damaging allegations during their ongoing marital and custody battle.
The latest development adds another layer to an already sensitive case that spans multiple jurisdictions. While legal proceedings continue in Austria, both sides appear to be firmly contesting each other’s claims, turning what was once a private family matter into a closely watched legal dispute attracting significant public attention.
Peter Haag And His Family Push Back Against Public Claims
According to statements issued through Mumbai-based law firm Semwal & Co., two separate legal notices have been served to Celina Jaitly. One notice reportedly comes from Peter Haag himself, while the second has been issued by his father, DI Wolfgang J. Haag, who is also the grandfather of the couple’s children.
The notices reportedly allege that various interviews, social media posts and media interactions have circulated what the family describes as misleading, defamatory and unverified allegations. Peter Haag’s family claims they remained silent for a considerable period in hopes that the matrimonial dispute would remain private. However, they now argue that continued public commentary has forced them to take legal action to defend their reputation.
The legal team has further emphasized that divorce and child custody proceedings remain active before courts in Austria. According to the notices, public discussions surrounding the dispute have the potential to influence perceptions while the matter is still being examined through legal channels. The family has reportedly denied allegations of domestic violence, emotional abuse, intimidation, harassment and other claims that have surfaced in recent months.
A significant concern raised in the notices relates to the couple’s children. Peter Haag’s family alleges that repeated references to the children in public discussions, including the sharing of personal information and photographs, have subjected them to unnecessary scrutiny during an emotionally difficult period. The notices argue that matters involving minors should remain protected from public exposure while custody proceedings are underway.
Legal Battle Intensifies Following Earlier FIR
The notices reportedly demand the removal of content considered defamatory, a halt to future public statements concerning the dispute and the children, along with a public clarification and apology. The family has also warned that failure to comply could result in additional civil and criminal proceedings, including claims seeking damages and compensation.
The development comes shortly after Mumbai Police reportedly registered an FIR against Peter Haag following a complaint filed by Celina Jaitly. Reports indicated that the complaint included allegations linked to cruelty, harassment, intimidation and other offences under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita. Authorities were also said to have initiated further procedural steps as part of the investigation.
Earlier this month, Celina publicly spoke about her ongoing legal struggle and expressed concerns regarding communication with her children. In an emotional social media post, the actress alleged that despite existing custody arrangements, she had been unable to contact them during her stay in Austria for court proceedings. Her comments generated widespread discussion online and drew attention to the personal difficulties she says she has been facing throughout the separation.
The former actress and Peter Haag married in 2010 and built a family life that largely remained away from the public spotlight for many years. They are parents to twin boys born in 2012 and welcomed another set of twins in 2017. The family also endured a heartbreaking tragedy when one of the newborn twins passed away due to a congenital heart condition.
With legal proceedings continuing in both India and Austria, the dispute remains far from resolved. As allegations and counter-allegations continue to emerge, the final outcome is likely to depend on ongoing court proceedings rather than the growing public debate surrounding the case.
