Adivi Sesh’s Dacoit: A Love Story came in with solid buzz and even stronger opening numbers — but six days in, the momentum isn’t really building the way you’d expect.
The Shaneil Deo directorial, also starring Mrunal Thakur and Anurag Kashyap, has now collected around ₹27.05 crore in India after Day 6. On Wednesday alone, the film added roughly ₹1.55 crore, showing another dip after a slight Tuesday push. The trend right now? Flat, with no real breakout jump.
The film did open strong. Day 1 brought in ₹6.55 crore, followed by a small weekend bump — ₹6.85 crore on Saturday and ₹6.40 crore on Sunday. But post-weekend, the drop was visible. Monday slipped to ₹2.70 crore, Tuesday tried to recover with ₹3 crore, and then Wednesday dipped again. It’s not crashing, but it’s not rising either — just holding ground.
Interestingly, Dacoit has already crossed the lifetime numbers of HIT: The Second Case (₹25.92 crore), so it’s not underperforming entirely. But the comparison that really matters here is Major, which had already hit ₹30.65 crore by Day 6. And right now, Dacoit is trailing behind that pace.
Adivi Sesh himself addressed the mixed reception. He admitted the film hasn’t received the same level of critical praise as Major or Goodachari. Still, he pointed out something important — the audience turnout hasn’t collapsed. In fact, he highlighted how mid-range films usually drop sharply early in the week, but Dacoit managed to stay somewhat stable, even showing a small rise on Tuesday.
That’s where the film’s real story sits — not a blockbuster surge, not a failure either. Just a film trying to hold its space despite mixed word-of-mouth.
The film’s premise had potential. A convict escaping prison, chasing revenge against an ex-lover, and diving into a series of robberies — it’s a mix of romance, action, and emotional conflict. But audience response suggests the execution didn’t fully land the way it needed to.
Globally, Dacoit has crossed ₹41 crore, which gives it some breathing room. But going forward, it needs stronger weekday holds or a weekend jump to really push into a safer zone.
For now, it’s clear — Dacoit had the opening. What it’s missing is the sustained pull.
